[Mod Edit] Jon Gruden could be a name to watch for upcoming Head Coach openings per Tom Pelissero (1 Viewer)

Loved Gruden on TV.

But his racism has been exposed, regardless of the way it was exposed. You can't put that toothpaste back in the tube. He was a dumbarse for emailing that crap to begin with. Hire a known racist coach and that's mismanagement. There's no culture fit with racism.

I've already decided I don't want McCarthy and hope Dallas re-signs him to take that temptation away from Loomis, so I definitely don't want Gruden. I can't imagine the negative blowback if the Saints hired him, just from a perception standpoint. I don't know enough about the emails and other stuff to attack him personally -- I just think it's a terrible PR move and probably bad for the rebuild.

DA/ML overpaid for Carr because “history” and DA’s guy. Now, people want Gruden because “history” and Carr’s guy.

Third time HC who I question:
  1. Does he has the energy for a rebuild? He didn’t do that in Tampa or OAK.
  2. Will young players buy-in post-emails?
  3. Will the league not put finger in the scale post-lawsuit?

Yet he seems to be there every training camp? 🤔

The Saints are gonna take their time. Probably won't see a hire until Senior Bowl, perhaps right before. If Glenn is high on their list, you can't talk to him nor Ben Johnson unless Detroit gets a 1st rd bye. Can't talk to Flores unless Vikings get a bye with a win on Sunday. Everybody else still in the playoff's, you probably can't talk to them anytime soon.

So you'll probably hear them talk to candidates like a Vrabel or a Carroll/Gruden shortly after the season ends because you can talk to those guys right away. They probably already had discussions with coaches, its just not been reported yet.

Yes and Gruden hasn't been a good head coach for a very long time.
His only good trait was he was a master motivator. He could get the troops fired up but to do this you have to be in tune and in touch with the people you seek to motivate he spent 10 years in the booth at ESPN and when he came back he was out of touch with todays NFL player and that was almost another decade ago. He brings nothing to the table at this point but a name.

No thanks pass.

We're going to do something stupid aren't we?

...once Loomis figures out who he has to send a 5th rounder to in order for us to have the rights to hire him
