Movies everyone else seems to love that you’re just ‘meh’ about (1 Viewer)

are there any mines that aren't bombs?
Well a mine is a bomb underground. Once you place the bomb underground it’s now a mine, so even though it’s structure is unchanged, its essence is now a that of a mine. Think on it this way; at school you’re a teacher but when you walk into your home you’re now a parent and your essence is now parent.

so technically you meant something like "more specifically"
or are you just trying to undermine?

Talladega Nights

Napoleon Dynamite

I have generally low expectations for Will Ferrell movies so no strong opinions there, though I thought Talledega Nights had its moments, but Napoleon Dynamite was bad.

I made it about an hour into Everything Everywhere All at Once. I don’t understand the hype and critical acclaim for that one. I’ve read there’s a deeper meaning to the storytelling but I couldn’t stay interested in it long enough to find out.

I could pick out some funny moments from either one........but both were definitely movies that many others loved quoting stuff from. Yet, if I were to see that either one was about to come on TBS later in the day, I'm quite sure I wouldn't be planning my evening around it.

Then you got more out of Napoleon Dynamite than I did.

Subterfuge

The original petard was indeed a small bomb used for blowing up gates to a fortress. As the placer of the petard ran off, the explosion could blow him off his feet if the fuse was too short.

I wonder if it hurt??

Uncle Rico was funny, but I didn't really get what was so knee-slappingly hilarious about "Vote for Pedro".

Forrest Gump i remember liking a lot when i saw it at the theater.. then over the next 20 or 25 yrs i thought it was corny.. now, having rewatched it in the last couple of years- i really like it again .

I said almost this exact same thing

Heh. I voted "hated it" back in 2009. My mind hasn't changed since then either.

You tell ‘em Bill.
I'm not sure why you misquoted how I feel about movies. I'm sure the movie industry plays an important role in the economy as they incite a LOT of people toward their product and all their frivolous merchandizing.

All I'm saying is that it's not my thing. I can think of dozens of other activities I would prefer to spend my time doing than sitting in a movie theater for a couple of hours. Seriously, if the vast majority of the population felt as I do, a lot of movie studio personnel would be out of work and all the actors on the big screen would have to find real jobs.

But I don't dislike the movie people or their craft. I simply don't know anything about them or their work. There are a lot of posts in the Funny Memes thread that shoot right over my head. Most of them make absolutely no sense to me.
