NFL New playing rules approved by Owners; and other proposal decisions (1 Viewer)

Roughing replay should’ve been approved. A lot of games being decided by discretion/phantom calls. But owners prioritize revenue above anything else. That’s more jersey sales for them and more $ that players are about to pay to switch
Probably why it was not approved. Have to leave areas of "judgment" by a part-time ref to decide games.

So it's a no go on reviewing these absurd, game altering roughing penalties but players can now wear zero. Fair enough. It tracks.

I mean, I know we've all had discussions here about it, but it is pretty obvious the NFL wants to keep themselves in a position to be able to influence outcomes if they want to. Again, not saying every game is rigged or that most games are rigged, but there is really only a single reason for keeping this massive non-reviewable grey area.

No 99 for WRs?

I still hate the linebacker numbers in the 40s, not to mention 20 :mwink: for heaven's sake. Zeroes are okay. You had center Jim Otto wearing 00 and Johnny Olszewski and Obert Logan wearing 0 many years ago. Didn't Kenny Burrough also wear 00? Single digits should be limited to offensive players IMHO for purposes of identifying eligible players.

Why make it more difficult for officials, who have trouble achieving the level of "adequate" without further complicating their duties figuring out who is eligible? Some coach is going to sneak in a linebacker on offense with a backfield number. Why we need to have kickers wearing numbers in the 90s is beyond me.

In summary, ugh.

Well now that Tommy boy has retired {well for now at least} we don’t have to worry about the bogus roughing the passer calls so much now.
