NFL Scouting Combine: Feb 27–Mar 2 (6 Viewers)

I only mention him because he is always the go-to name everyone points out. Nothing more, nothing less.

It’s just funny to me how this day 3 prospect is so consistently mentioned.
I'm going to assume you didn't watch CFB this year. Skattlebro is a fan favorite for a reason. Arizona state was expected to win maybe 3 games last year and ended up getting into the CFB playoffs because Skattlebro, a slow tough as nails RB gives 100% on every single possession. Not to mention he absolutely dominated his last game despite being sick and puking on the sideline. He's a gamer and a fan favorite. Will he be as elite as Jeanty? Most likely not, but again if he gives you 70% of Jeany while allowing you to use you 9th overall pick somewhere else... there's a discussion to be had.
I don’t look at RB stats as the main indicator of value, sorry.
Sure nobody is saying stats tell the whole story. But from a value perspective if player A can give you 70% of what player B gets you whole being selected 150 picks later.... the value is absolutely lopsided.
Teams draft backs high when it is warranted, but I guess I should say they’re all wrong, 100% every single time, because some dude named Whodat!drewdat on SR says so. lol
Calm down there boss man. It's just a conversation. Nobody is attacking you personally and there's no reason to act silly like that.

I’M the one that needs to calm down here? 😂

Bottom line is virtually every publication has this guy rated as a day 3 guy, 8th or lower in the RB rankings.

Again, I just find it funny that this is the one day 3 back name that keeps popping up.

Sorry this makes you so defensive.

I mean you're the one getting weird about this whole thing.

Absolutely Jeanty is special. Skattlebro doesn't have anywhere near the athleticism and upside.

If you read my last post you would know why. He's a fan favorite.

You're the one being defensive and making statements with my name. I'm fine with drafting Jeanty at 9. But there's absolutely a conversation to be had on value and there's good points on each side.

Campbell’s arms are only 325/8”. I dont know that he can play LT in pros.

That's only 1/2 inch shorter than Fuaga which I don't think is really a big deal. My much bigger concern with Campbell is that he only looked average this year. You just didn't see the dominance you would expect from a high first round pick. But, I'm no expert on evaluating OL.

Agreed. Campbells tape is pretty bad for a guy that's mocked in the top 10.

Campbell also plays much more upright than Fuaga so his shorter arms really show up on tape. He's a guard for me.

I feel like we have much bigger problems on the DL than OL.

I doubt the saints draft an OL early this time. It was much much more of a need last year.

I think FA(maybe if they get Becton) will solidify it completely and you’d only really need like a 6th round guy(there are some interesting ones late this year) to give needed depth and or a developmental guy.

DL? We probably need to come out with an Edge and DT in the first 3 rounds and double dip late with some of the good prospects late because DL is very deep this draft.

Yep. We already know that some Saints scouts have a first round grade on Ward. They even talked to the Titans about moving up to #1 to draft him. You don't do that if you don't have a high first round grade on the guy. And I'm sure there are many more scouts with a first round grade on Ward too.

Source?

OR you can draft Jeanty and then use the later picks on players who grade out better than the remaining RBs. For example, there's more WRs with a grade over 6.3 than there are RBs, thus giving you a better likelihood of landing an excellent RB and a good WR. You have to allow value to dictate your board. If you consistently drafting higher rated players you're more likely than hit on better players more often. You undermine this ability by saying, "we know he's the best but let's draft something else and hope we can get 70% of the player we passed on later on." That's a recipe for disaster. Untethered BPA is the wisest approach

Speaking of short arms. Tyler Warren having the shortest arms of any of the tight ends surprised me

It was in SonOfNolas thread about the saints meeting Ward at the combine

In addition to 60minutes saying it,Nick has also said the saints really like Ward and would like to move up for him but the cost right now is too high. 60 also said the interest in Ward is very real and unusual compared to recent interest in past QBs.

I believe the underhill stuff about Ward was in one of his articles the other day.

I'd be curious is it is real or just smoke and mirrors before the draft.

That was also before the reports about moving forward with Carr.

Ok. However its about 2” shorter than desired for left tackle.
