NFL Scouting Combine: Feb 27–Mar 2 (18 Viewers)

This guy sure gets a lot of play here for a day 3 prospect that’s like the 10th rated back in the draft according to several publications.

I mean, I like the player, but there is an obsession here about this player as if he’s like the second or third best back in the draft or something.

I mean, not to pick on you here, but you went and grabbed the 9th guy listed on the NFL.com ranking list in Skattebo to compare him to Jeanty.

It’s just funny to me how this guy is looked at as some sort of potential great hope savior around here lol.

Would you mind posting this grade ranking for TEs and WRs? I'm interested in seeing how difference between Jeanty, Warren, and Tet versus the next highest rated player at each position. Of that's too much, drop the link where it this can be found. Appreciate it., I couldn't find it on nfl.com

Probably connections. It doesn't mean a couple of these guys won't go high, just that they don't have a 1st round grade.
I didn’t hear what he said, just reading from your post. So to be clear, Ryan Leaf is saying there are absolutely “no scouts” that have a QB with a first round grade? Has he talked with every single scout employed by the NFL? Does Ryan Leaf, a convicted felon, have people within all 32 franchises feeding him information? It’s absurd. Not blasting you, by the way. Just saying it doesn’t make any sense.

Ryan Leaf is all around football now, employed by the NFL from NFL Radio, calls Washington St games, etc. His redemption arc is pretty good.

I don't know who all he talked to, but his words were no scouts have a 1st round grade in any QB in the draft. He said he had a 8.2 grade in Ward which is a late 2nd/3rd round grade on the system he/they use.

I only bring up his background to emphasize how far-fetched it is that he has that level of access and that kind of exhaustive info that spans 32 teams. Even the most trusted reporters around the league don’t have that kind of network & universal trust.

I have to believe that either you misunderstood his point or that he misspoke. Maybe he said (or meant to say) that among the scouts he’s talked to none of them have a first round grade on a QB. That I can believe. But I’m positive that Cam Ward, though not a perfect prospect, is still highly valued by many around the NFL.

Nah, that's what he said.

Being highly valued by some GMs and having a 1st round grade are 2 different things. This draft only has about ~10 players with 1st round grades as opposed to most drafts having ~16 players with 1st round grades.

This is why I would prefer not to trade down from 1.9 so we can get a player with a 1st round grade, but if we do maybe go back only a couple picks since desperate teams might take Ward and Sanders in the top 8 pushing 1st round graded players to about pick ~12.

His 3rd rated QB in this draft was Riley Leonard. Acknowledging that he needs to develop more, but pointing to what he did at ND and especially what he did when dropped in a pro-style offense at the Senior Bowl.

If we trade down the normal trade down chart needs to get thrown out...
We should demand more!

Yes, I'd want multiple 2nds/3rds in this draft depending how far we go down. I still want about 1e picks in this draft to give the roster revamp a jump start and the more players in the first 3 rounds, the better.

Well, that's what I meant. To be more explicit, I highly doubt there isn't a significant portion of the league who will end up having a 1st round grade on Cam Ward.
