Nick Underhill thinks Carr will be Saints starter [mod edit: Moore-Carr meeting went well; Saints plan is to keep Carr in 2025 & figure out contract] (281 Viewers)

It won't be the latter. We have an issue at Safety and we need to resign Paulson and Juwan. I think something to monitor is the T position. I know everyone is high on the year Penning had, and I think he improved...the proof was in the pudding. The TE position didn't come alive until Rattler came in and that seemed to coincide w/ his ability to move/create. When Carr was in the team was much more concerned w/ helping Penning.

If the Saints made a move there and maybe moved on from Juwan but then drafted the TE from Penn State I think it would help the team overall vs just assuming Penning is the starting RT. Doesn't matter if it's a RT or a LT that allows Fuaga to move back to RT.

Yeah, I was actually think that if they do spend, hopefully it will be on the Tackle position either at RT or LT that allows Fuaga to move to RT. People have been talking about Becton who is a free agent from the Eagles, I wonder if Moore thinks he would be be as good of a RT as he was at Guard this year? Or at least better than Penning? Becton is still young at 25, so signing him would work both for the short and long term. I'd rather draft a Guard because I think they could be found cheap so I'd prefer to sign Becton only if Moore thinks he can play Tackle.

Warren has really grown on me and I would be fine with him at #9, but if there is better option available at #9, I think there is a lot of depth at TE this year. Should be able to get a very good one in the 2nd or 3rd to replace Juan.

We probably should have known that when Moore was so complimentary of how the Saints played when they played Philly this year.

I've remained higher on this roster than most. That's why everyone perceived this post as me suggesting we tank, when in reality it was me pointing out giving a middle of the road team higher draft capital could easily result in that team taking a significant leap the following year.

I'm hoping we make a play for Ronnie Stanley, Joseph Noteboom, or Cam Robinson

I haven't really looked at who will be free agents this year. Stanley is 30 so he's a bit old from my point of view and I'd rather a younger player, but I guess Tackles do play well into their mid-to-late 30s so at the right price, I would be fine with it.

That's true
But overall I thought the remark by CKM was just good coach speak.

I love how Loomis supporters use this as a get out of jail card for everything.

It's both a sword and a shield. It has often been to his detriment like when he traded up for Marcus Williams because Payton wanted him, but it can work out like when he traded up for Kamra because Payton wanted him.

So I think he can both be criticized and applauded for it depending on the circumstances. I do think it's a overall good way for a GM to work, but Loomis has far to often given coaches things he should not have like giving DA Carr on that contract and trying to trade for Deshaun Watson.

Im hoping they trade back for Malaki Starks in the mid 1st rd for a 2nd round pick. Then get a DT at 1st 2nd rounder and DE at next 2nd. Pickup guard and WR in the two thirds.

Imagine following the Chiefs model. You groom Rattler for another year and you make the playoffs...perhaps starting him in a week 17 game because you've secured the division. You traded back in the 2024 draft so you have some extra capital. The league is going crazy over the QB's in 2025 but you already have yours so you can move up and draft an elite player who falls because of the QB's being drafted.

You already have a playoff team and you have cap space. You can officially turn the team over to Rattler not worried about if his supporting cast will let him down.

I'm hoping they target one in FA since those guys are relatively cheap. Trevon Moehrig, Justin Reid, Jordan Fuller. All should be available...all likely not commanding super high contracts.

I guess this organization will try to avoid a rebuild until they have no absolutely no choice.

What teams don't do that? Most times when a team goes through a rebuild, it's because they have unintentionally hit rock bottom.

I personally would have cut Carr to start the rebuild this year. And, maybe they are wrong that this team can be competitive and they hit rock bottom last year, but most teams go kicking and screaming into a rebuild.
