A prospect means potential and that could be a hit or a misfire. If this trade was to happen, any sign of struggles, the board would say he's in development. The Saints are not in the position anymore to development and wait. We need to draft correctly and hopefully build the team through these picks. Ward maybe good but I don't see that the risk would be worth the reward. Just my two cents. On the other hand, you take a chance on hiring a young and inexperienced offensive minded coach because you have a lot of confidence in his ability to identify talent and build an offense around those players.
I'm not in love with the idea of trading up for a player in this draft, but I do think Ward is in a class by himself among QB prospects this season, and if the team makes a decision this is their best shot at getting an elite talent at the position, I can understand making the move.
That said, the arguments that can be made for the Saints jumping up to draft Ward can be made for the Titans to stay put and draft him, instead, and I'm leaning towards that happening, when all is said and done.
