That kid better beat out Strief......

We needed a tackle. Strief is like 34. I think this is his last year. Even if he doesn't beat out strief this year, he can backup both tackle positions so if Armstead gets hurt we don't have to move Peat to LT and bring in a backup OG...He can be "eligible" the rest of the time.

Don't hate the pick, just hate the direct asset-swap aspect of it. Cooks was traded in order for us to move an offensive asset to the other side of the ball.

We pretty much just traded Cooks for an backup offensive tackle.

Lattimore was projected 5-7 in most drafts.
Ramczyk was projected 15-25.

Both are needs and BPA who fell way lower than most expected. There was a run on Def. Seems like a solid draft.

But it could be. We needed a tackle badly. We still have Brees, Ingram and AD that needs a wall. We didn't reach for anyone and I respect that. Just because this draft is weak overall for lineman doesn't mean the ones that are there in the 1st and 2nd are bad. He's a day 1 starter.

"Could". Anything "could" be. I don't know why we would draft this early based on what could happen when it is very clear what "Is" or is not and that is that we have defensive issues.
We score tons of points. In taking OL we are saying that we will just have to score MORE points.

Peat will be a guard too

Mike D. had Ramczyk as his top OT. Only 9 teams pick ahead of us tomorrow. Jordan Willis, Carl Lawson, Tim Williams, Malik McDowell....Zach Cunningham...Obi M., Budda Baker, Kevin King

Tyus Bowser
Carl Lawson
Tim Williams
Jordan Willis
Ryan Anderson
Tanoh Kpassagnon
Daeshon Hall
Malik McDowell

All of these guys can get after the passer and some are better vs the run, but just as valuable.

All of them cannot be drafted before we get to them. And the Saints are just as likely to trade up for one of them they really like.

Y'all need to calm down.

I sure hope this dude does not become a repeat of Peat on our O-line.

Dude. We drafted a BPA at a position of need. We didn't reach for a DE as the next few are all roughly the same and we could get at 42.

Ed Werder has been tweeting Saints insider info all day long seemingly, and he just dropped this nugget:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/NFL?src=hash">#NFL</a> D.C. on <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Cowboys?src=hash">#Cowboys</a> taking Taco Charlton: &quot;Solid player but not dynamic. Good but not great.&quot;</p>&mdash; Ed Werder (@EdwerderRFA) <a href="https://twitter.com/EdwerderRFA/status/857803227223515136">April 28, 2017</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

We traded Cooks to improve the defense. Gaining another pick whether we directly draft a defensive player with it or not is irrelevant. Without the Cooks trade maybe we go OT at 42 (due to being a weak OL class) instead of being able to go defense there. Then we are looking at a DE in the 3rd round instead of early 2nd.

If the value lines up and we still expect to fill the needs then the pick makes sense.

That's the point. Tackle is so weak in this draft that if you don't get the value one now, you're likely not to get one at all.

I'm seeing a lot of Packer fans upset that we picked him. I'm wondering if their plan was to trade back to 33 and he would be available.
