Official game day thread: Raiders @ Saints 12/29/24 (11 Viewers)

Today and next week will prove just how far the Saints have to go to be a respectable team once again.

Finally the Raiders will get some of the sleep they didn’t get to enjoy this morning.

Atlanta isn’t in a rebuild mode. They already have their team. Just learning how to win now. Carolina will be putting pieces around Bryce. Tampa will either replace Evans and draft Mayfield’s replacement. All are years ahead of the Saints.

They will never be as good as people think they look on paper.

Rattler is the Saints future QB. First half was great, second half not so much, but he hasn't looked like he was in over his head at any point in this game. He's grown a lot in his 5.5 starts.

If you mean he is a bridge til we draft that QB, ok.

If you mean build a team around him, nope.

Just wait until Loomis gets the team under the salary cap with his usual BS. The local media will go nuts reporting on what a “cap genius” he is. Loomis will sign a couple of name FAs to huge backloaded contacts. They will be hyped. He’ll hire Aaron Glenn as HC that will be hyped. And they’ll finish 2-15 with the media wondering “How did this happen?”
Please no Aaron Glenn

What name FAs are out there? Won't be many

Rattler, is not good.
He’s had a rough first year for certain. Can he play in the NFL the jury is still out, but I think we know he is not going to be a viable starter. A young qb must be a priority next season.

Tough loss to an equally talent-deficient Raiders. They have Bowers ... and a bunch of guys. Missing their clear difference maker on defense (Crosby) they still managed to generate significant DL pressure through stunts and picks ... while we ran guys into their OL all day to little impact. It isn't just a lack of talent on our side, it is a lack of scheme, coaching, and game awareness.

O'Connell played well enough to not make his team loose. Rattler repeatedly made poor plays that erased his good ones. I'm sure most of us - being homers - wouldn't trade Rattler for O'Connell, but frankly O'Connell showed himself as the better QB today. Still not a good one, but good enough to beat us.
