I disagree. We need to win AND have a Drew Brees type of superstar QB to get back to the level of national games we used to have (5 per year). Or get a coach with a name like Belicheck. Payton didn't want to come here. He wanted the Packers job. Not a large market but a historic team that doesn't need the market. The last time we hired a coach Daboll took the Giants without even looking around.

If the new coach starts 8-1, 7-2, or 6-3; they getting more national attention and possibly a flex game(s).

The only people that talk market size are all sixty-seventy year old reporters that see TV distribution through a lense that is no longer relevant.

But all of the NFL’s contracts are national.

Just to add, let’s say this Lions run is similar to Payton/Brees.
Lasts about two decades with a championship.
They become a mainstay forever more.
And all the previous history doesn’t mean a thing anymore.

Payton is getting in because of the Katrina angle.
And once he gets to 200 wins, he’s a lock.

I think the Saints are an attractive spot. You got an owner that will give you about three years and the division is weak.

I was looking at it wrong. The number is 200. Which is 40+ more games than he won here. Like I said a superbowl or more wins. He's not a lock if he retires right now.

Another 26 wins makes him a lock.
