Patriots release Gilmore (1 Viewer)

Nah sign out right we need our draft capital

Signing outright assumes that he would chose us over his hometown team, the Panthers, or the SB favs like the Chiefs, AZ, Rams or TB. Trading a late pick for a player who is being released isn't spending a lot of draft capital.

Hearing that the Panthers were also one of the teams interseted in Sherman. For that matter seems like a likely destination if he does land in the South will be Carolina.

WE can't afford 2 - high price corners....The math wont work, unless he takes a big cut in pay. We're good at corner....We need help in other areas...

He'll go to Tampa to play with Tom, and also to stick it to Belichick.

We just traded a third round pick for Roby. The Saints were well aware of the Gilmore situation including what a new deal would have required and chose to trade for Roby. That makes Gilmore to the Saints a non-starter. It makes all the sense in the world that Belichick would cut Gilmore the week after playing the Bucs knowing Gilmore going to Tampa was a high possibility. Like Richard Sherman to the Saints, vets looking for a ring know the Saints are in rebuilding mode /salary cap low for 2021.

Id be surprised if he makes it through wavier

Jags, Panther, Eagles still got 15+ million in cap space.

Traded to the panthers for a 6th. He's from SC and his family is huge in the Carolinas

I just read some breaking news from NFL TR That the Panthers just traded for Gilmore. They sent the Pats a 2023 sixth-round pick. I thought he was released! They may have done a last minute deal before he was released. IDK.

Good for Carolina. They're schedule up until late this year is pretty winnable. Take advantage and go for it
