Patriotswire writer proposes trade idea for Chris Olave (16 Viewers)

The pick swap is the part I don't agree with. Olave and #9 to move up 5 spots makes more sense. The pick swap is too much for me.
Who would we be moving up to get? Is there someone there at 4 that can help our team more than who we can get at 9 plus olave ?

A couple things....1. That whole s- show w/ KPD a couple years ago "putting his stuff out in the streets" dangling him out there like the night's biggest catch had to have him in a "F this place" type of mood and 2....I don't think he/his camp and Carr get along and if Carr is "the future" then dude probably just wants a fresh start
I forgot about those 2 incidents. Kenner is funny like dat. But other issue with his brother speaking out about Carr and such, I can see that being the majority reason, and if that's the case....trade him. But man I loved a healthy Olave ....Imagine Olave with CGM and a Prime Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham..

Drew would have 6,500 yards in a 17 game season

I’d be surprised if we’d get anything higher than a 4th rounder for Olave, with his concussion history.

Not to me. I dont see why we would do this unless it's for a QB or Edge rusher.

The only reason I would move up to pick 4 would be to gain more trading power to move back and get more picks.

I don't have an issue with trading Olave this year in principle, but it would need it to be for a late first or early second. And that is not likely to happen this year because of his medical situation. The deal proposed I would only do if Ward, Carter, or maybe Graham was on the board when they pick.

While Olave isn't ideal as a #1 WR. He had two 1,000 yard seasons before he got hurt last year and he would be a great #2 WR if used properly and I think Moore will. So, if he was 100% healthy, I see no reason to trade him especially when this is not a particularly great WR class. But, since he does have the concussion issue, I would trade him for the right offer.

But, I'm also fine with playing him this year and seeing where we are at the trade deadline. Or just pick up his 5th year option and then trade him.

The problem is that if we trade him now, he's at the floor of his value. If he comes back healthy next year, his trade value is going to go up. And if he doesn't and he gets concussed again, you've only lost the 3rd or 4th you could get for him this year. I'd rather have him for a year and take the chance on getting a much higher pick while risking losing a 3rd or 4th, than trading him for a 3rd or 4th this year.

Can you guarantee that he won't get his 6th concussion next year? If he gets it, how long will he be out? What about his 7th after that?

That's why you trade him sooner than later. Unless he stops having concussion, Olave's career isn't going to be a long one

Problem is that he's also a good to very good WR and we only have 1 or 2 of those.

It's just a sheetty situation. If he didn't have the health issue, he would be a great #2 with potential to be a break out playmaker. But with the concussions, he's a major risk and it's hard to give him a contract extension. I'm just trying to figure out how we get the best value in a trade or if he can put the concussion issues behind him.

We can easily replace Olave's production.

I don't think Olave has any real value in a trade. He's had what? 5 concussions now? 6? I've honestly lost count. I recall he was having them in college. No ones wants to give up draft capitol for a player thats heavy concussion prone and already should consider retirement for health reasons.
Right. Olave is getting no where near a 1st round pick in exchange in a trade. Not with his concussion issues.
