Per Nick Underhill: Dennis Allen spoke extensively about the red zone issues. Says it’s a combination of play calls, execution and coaching (3 Viewers)

This. Payton was a master at running the same play out of different formations and personnel. Everyone knew their assignment because they ran it over and over. Just dressed up slightly differently.

everybody is looking for a culprit but what if it just takes time for this team to gel? it's only been 6 games and they have gradually gotten better. I'd say give it 3 more games before making any major moves.

I’m cool with it taking time for chemistry to build between Carr and the receivers. I’m not cool with this veteran offensive line (apart from Penning) who we have a large portion of our cap and draft picks invested in, struggling the way they have this season.

Because it is the same problems we saw all last year.

Redzone issues are nothing new. Started last season, continued in the preseason and kept going through the first 6 games this year. We’ve had 4-5 QB’s behibd center, different RB’s, TE’s, oline. There has only been one constant.

We struggle using what works, we refuse to get our TE’s involved in the redzone, we don’t use Taysom enough, we lack creativity.

Shaheed had more rushing attempts than Taysom Hill.

lol

Two of the three red zone issues mentioned are directly on Pete. The other is a combination. Not sure how that is construed into a “see, Carr is bad in the red zone” statement.
One of the three could be on other coaches, such as the coach for our underperforming OL.

And you quote me with this, why?

Let me put it this way...
Last season, with Winston at QB, the Saints had a RZ conversion rate of 66.7%. With Dalton finishing the season, we were at 52.1%. As of this current moment, our conversion rate is 36.8%.

Passer rating:
Dalton - 109.93 (23% TD rate)
Winston - 102.98 (29% TD rate)
Carr - 90.83 (16% TD rate)

While coaching is not helping him, Carr is bad in the red zone. And before you even try to go there, the O-line was just as bad last season.

We must be watching different games.....in their last 4 games the Saints are 1-3, gradually gotten better?

I’m ok with Sheed going on jet sweeps and think the more we give it to him and the more show the motion the easier we will between the tackles.

Cant wait to see it with Taysom at QB, sheed with jet motion and AK sprinting to opposite flat at the snap. Make teams prep for triple option with speed. If it is working dont go away from it. Right now, teams don’t have to prepare for Taysom because if he gashes them itll just be 1-2 plays. If it doesnt work then go away from it. It’s not hard. Hell, the Dolphins are tearing up the NFL running 3 plays over and over again. Each play has 3-4 options with concepts that make taking them all away really difficult.

And there it is, lol. Winston.

I’m quoting your post because you tried to make it seem like Carr’s reputation as being good at checking into and out of plays has been diminished because he’s bad post-snap. It’s not. You don’t have an unlimited number of plays to check in to.

And since you brought him up: Winston may have good numbers in the RZ. But no one wants him as a starting QB. Why? Because RZ QB play doesn’t exist in a vacuum. That’s a fallacy. It’s a combination of a lot of factors that lead to RZ performance.

The enlarged, bold, red and underlined are the 3 quarterbacks that have played with Dennis Allen as head coach and Sneaky Pete as OC. I even placed them in order by passer rating. You singling out one name of the 3 listed speaks more about you than it does about me.

And regarding the pre-snap, post-snap, I said nothing about Carr's reputation at checking in and out of plays. All I said was people seem to forget that post-snap was a thing.
