Yeah I guess I asked for that lol.Can he improve in the run? Well…when you’re the worst in the league, by definition you have to improve. Right?

This is where PFF comes up short. His pass rush rate is way too low. He's tied for 6th among DTs and he bats down a very high # of passes , even blocked a game saving FG. PFF does not take into account the gravity of a play just a win rate. Much like an OL he can have a great win rate and give up a strip sack fumble with the game on the line and have a great PFF score.I know we dismiss PFF a lot, do we think this grade is off?
I see Bresee talked up here as a pass rusher (he’s also not graded well there either) but do you guys and gals think he can improve in the run game? 6th in sacks is nice but he has to improve in run defense imo.

This is exactly what it is. Get a legit 0-tech/NT to line up beside him & not only will Bresee improve vs the run, but he’ll be even more dynamic as a pass rusher.Sacks get you paid. But the real issue is he needs a legit NT beside him.
Your dlineman in a 3-4 are expected to shed blocks and stop the run or at least set the gap, commanding two blockers to free up your linebackers
Bresee does neither of these. He hasn’t been coached up at all, and could be a dominate DT in the NFL. Right now he’s mostly a liability
Hope we do grab one of those guys and that Bresee continues his growth. Love the sacks, if he can improve a bit in the run game he will be a great one imo. This is exactly what it is. I mean the dude has 7.5 sacks on the year from the DT position. & that’s on top of the 4.5 he had as a rotational rookie. They can hate on him all they want, but true pressure DTs are rare & we have one in Bresee. This draft is fairly stocked w/NT talent. Draft a guy like TY Robinson (NEB), Alfred Collins (TEX), Jay Toia (UCLA), Nazir Stackhouse (GA) or Dontay Corleone (CIN) on Day2 & our IDL would level up immensely.
