Philip Rivers (1 Viewer)

^^ ;)

Nah, Rivers is just a immature QB who shows poor spotsmanship skills. The fact that he went over to the fans showed that they were getting to him. Most players would tune it out, move to another spot on the sidelines, or if it is bad enough have team security take care of it.

Just like in the NBA, the players should avoid all confrontations with the fans. Who would they have blamed if the fans did something to further escalate the issue when Rivers walked over?

Actually, Rivers was going to the locker room to have his knee checked out. He didn't have a choice except to go by the fans.

FWIW, "immature" is better than "classless" or "punk". I think there's still a happier medium to be found; he's not 100% not to blame, that's for sure. Immature is a step in the right direction. "He's got some growing to do."

Incidentally, I don't think that what he did to Cutler was 100% acceptable, and he could have just said nothing to the fans, but I'm just saying that Cutler and the fans weren't innocent victims. When you provoke a dog and the dog bites you, don't go blaming the dog.

The difference is Favre does it jokingly. The next play he's patting you on the back and laughing with you. Chargers don't do that, in fact they take it to the press conference and call you out.

Take every starting QB this year, and Rivers has acted the least mature out of any of them, at least on the field/sidelines. Yes, it's what I see on TV. But if anyone else was doing it as much as Rivers, they'd be caught too. Vick was last year, flipping off the fans. At least Rivers hasn't done that. Yet.

How anyone can say that the way Rivers act is a good impression on the game of football is beyond me.
"Chargers don't do that, in fact they take it to the press conference and call you out."

I think you're confusing us with the Patriots.
But anyways, what Favre did was a hundred times worst (and funnier) than what Rivers may have "seemingly" done to Cutler. And no one knows what Rivers said to the Indy fans at the end (it was just a shot of him yelling at them). They assume it was something nasty or such. When it could have been a joke as well.

I'll let you on a secret. Once you get caught on camera, they will start paying more attention you. Trust me, if they had caught say Cutler acting like a baffoon on the sidelines, then it would have followed him all the time.

Once again, the infamous Favre versus Detmer video:
http://www.zippyvideos.com/3301608671899746/koyfavrewhip/

I don't remember that video. Nonetheless, they are two different things because Farve:

A) is a warrior and was just fired up
B) was purely joking
C) has won a SuperBowl
D) has accomplished far more than Rivers in the NFL
E) was just reacting to Detmer, who obviously is a real idiot
F) just loves the game
G) can walk on water

I don't actually buy any of this but I thought I'd save people some time. If you agree with any of the answers, just type "I agree with (corresponding letter). I'm sure there are other excuses...errr, legitimate reasons, why the actions of Favre and Rivers are totally different so feel free to start with H). I would almost bet this could get through Z.

H) thank god Brees,Brady and manning dont do this. this is why they are best QB's not i play for 400 years and get the TD reord like emmit smith with the rush title. i wonder if farve will admit to the interception record.

I still dont buy it. I followed this guy intenselly and never once heard him say anything to that effect in fact I remember one of his biggest compliments came when the scouts asked him if there was anything in his life he wished he could take a mulligan on and his response was No, I think every experience you have and every decision you make allows you to learn something and improve and become a better person. This is the guy who worked out with his o-line in the weight room every day to build commraderie and throws New years eve parties for the whole team as a way to keep them together between the seasons. I cant imagine Cutler ever throwing his team under the bus like that, its just not his character. I think, no offense, whatever you heard you must have misheard or taken it out of context unknowinglly.

You said you followed him since his senior season

I'd hardly call that "intenselly" [sic]

His TD to INT ratio is still very good, comparable to Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and Steve Young.

Who's to say they won't play for #hyperbole years, just because it hasn't happened already? Are you mad that Jerry Rice extended his career, with Oakland then Seattle then almost with Denver, too? Are you mad that Jordan unretired twice? Angry that Shaq is dragging himself up and down basketball courts for the 16th season? Should Kobe, who's not even 30 yet, retire because he's already played 11 seasons?

What about longevity turns you off?

Michael Jordan trash talked with the best of them. It's part of the game, and if Rivers wants to jaw at the fans, that's on him.

By the way, did yall notice how one of them flipped Rivers off?
