Actually, Rivers was going to the locker room to have his knee checked out. He didn't have a choice except to go by the fans.
FWIW, "immature" is better than "classless" or "punk". I think there's still a happier medium to be found; he's not 100% not to blame, that's for sure. Immature is a step in the right direction. "He's got some growing to do."
Incidentally, I don't think that what he did to Cutler was 100% acceptable, and he could have just said nothing to the fans, but I'm just saying that Cutler and the fans weren't innocent victims. When you provoke a dog and the dog bites you, don't go blaming the dog.
Nah, Rivers is just a immature QB who shows poor spotsmanship skills. The fact that he went over to the fans showed that they were getting to him. Most players would tune it out, move to another spot on the sidelines, or if it is bad enough have team security take care of it.
Just like in the NBA, the players should avoid all confrontations with the fans. Who would they have blamed if the fans did something to further escalate the issue when Rivers walked over?
