Classic SR stuff, complaining about a good result. Last week the two minute defence "wasn't good enough", this week it was perfect (none of our 'never happy' posters mentioned this of course), so now we'll crucify the backup slot CB? Way to support that team!
Exactly. Even if a big play doesn't lead to a score, there is no substitute for helping your team to build some momentum. Those plays certainly helped in that regard! If you want to say he only made two plays, fine. Those two plays turned the game completely around. The first put the Saints in the lead when it was looking like they were going down 10 at the half. The second gave the Saints a two possession lead and allowed us to play from ahead the rest of the game.
What do you mean 'help' on the forced fumble? That implies someone else played a bigger part.Agree or disagree?
The pick six and help on the forced fumble obviously got their attention.

Same for me. He was in perfect coverage on a few of the big plays. I kept saying if he just turns his head around he’d have two INTs already, and that was before his actual INT! He can cover but can’t locate the ball on deep routes and seems to panic. Still, room for improvement and if he improves in that area, QBs won’t know where to attack our D! IF!I think the Vikings' passing game must be seriously underrated on this site (currently ranked 3rd in passing yards). I was slow to recognizing just how good Thielen is, but he's proven to be a legitimate weapon.
That said, what frustrated me about Williams during the game is he was often in position but his technique and instincts need work. There were times he could have made a play on the ball if he'd have turned his head. He's still a relatively inexperienced player (10 career starts / 24 games) so hopefully there's still some room for him to improve.
These types of post confuse me. You can’t take away something that actually happened in the game. It supports your arguement so it’s unfair. I can play too, take away the deep passes and the crazy insane catches by the WR and Williams was lights out! See how I did that?Honestly take away that interception, he had a horrible day. He has been solid in previous game though. And it was Anzalone that caused that fumble that I thought was the turning point of that game. Without that first turnover, who knows what would happen throughout the game. The Vikings were driving and moving the ball very well against us. Probably would of scored a touchdown or at least a field gold. Would of been a tough task trying to come from behind being down so many points against a defense that was playing well against us. Therefore, their fumble was the most important play of that game. Gave us momentum coming out of the half.
Am I on the wrong team forum??? The team I am excited about is 6-1, having beaten 4 division leaders with 2 big games on the road in a row. This kid Williams is honored with Player of the Week. That sounds like really exciting news for the team I am following. That be da Newlains Saints! Who Dat
Honestly have no idea how lol I mean yeah he made those 2 plays but he also gave up 2 easy TDs
Saints CB P.J. Williams was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8.
The NFL had far better candidates for the award over Williams. The third-year pro was a total liability in coverage against the Vikings, but forced a fumble and recorded a pick-six that was thrown right to him by Kirk Cousins. Other than that, he was getting beat regularly. Pro Football Focus gave Williams his second-worst grade of the season for the performance, and Williams' struggles this year are one of the reasons why the Saints acquired Eli Apple.
