Article PJ Williams named NFC defensive player of the week. (3 Viewers)

Let this award be a shining example at how some of you and a lot of people will take game day emotional hyperboles (which we all have) and carry them into the rest if the week.

It's natural to get frustrated at a play and yell (type) something grandiose. For example, a few games ago, Brees had a few sacks where it seemed like he was holding onto the ball to long. I even remember thinking "have better pocket awareness!" and came close to putting it in the game day thread. Then I relaxed and had to laugh at myself since Brees has some of the best pocket awareness in the history of the game.

Learn to have that moment where you relax and shrug it off. Not just for you. For us. Lol

Honestly take away that interception, he had a horrible day. He has been solid in previous game though. And it was Anzalone that caused that fumble that I thought was the turning point of that game. Without that first turnover, who knows what would happen throughout the game. The Vikings were driving and moving the ball very well against us. Probably would of scored a touchdown or at least a field gold. Would of been a tough task trying to come from behind being down so many points against a defense that was playing well against us. Therefore, their fumble was the most important play of that game. Gave us momentum coming out of the half.
Take away the Touchdowns he's given up and the catches he's allowed and he's a Hall of Famer.

This can’t be correct. I read 37 pages on the Gameday thread saying he was trash by the best and brightest posters around.

For all of the haters, please provide a list of the corners that have shut Thielen down this year. He is breaking the record for most consecutive 100 yard games.

Am I on the wrong team forum??? The team I am excited about is 6-1, having beaten 4 division leaders with 2 big games on the road in a row. This kid Williams is honored with Player of the Week. That sounds like really exciting news for the team I am following. That be da Newlains Saints! Who Dat

First time I have seen a thread where during a winning season where our cb who just won defensive player of the week and people are arguing if he even made the play or deserves the honor. It's pretty embarrassing to even see the crap spread around here it's enough to fertilize 50 acres of farmland . It seems like whenever a team signs someone we are doomed and everyone is getting better. Let's see how everyone handles the next loss or even the next two they could be back to back losses or we could win two more in a row just enjoy it and accept whatever happens enjoy the games won. People waste too much time whining instead of enjoying each game for what it is.

It was Williams. Here's the video. He made contact with the ball as he made the tackle.

One thing funny about this that I haven't seen mention is the jinx put on by Al Michaels. As this play is about to start he's talking about the vikes pulling off the double score at the end of the 1st and the start of the 2nd. Can't get a double if you haven't even got the single yet.

Honestly this is insane. He stunk it up. I wish him the best and hope he improves but that int was a gift. I give him credit for actually catching it and for the forced fumble but he is not good in coverage.

What do you mean 'help' on the forced fumble? That implies someone else played a bigger part.

I meant it as two Saints hit him, and I couldn’t tell who played a bigger role in dislodging the ball. So I went with ‘help’.
Nothing else implied in a negative connotation and no hidden meaning as it isn’t that serious to me. ?

You are not. It seems that a growing number of our fan base is inexplicably feeling emboldened to express their ignorance much more freely than before. Sad really.

I was doubtful of PJ after the first series. As the game went on, PJ made more mistakes but also made some very good plays. After the game was over, I felt okay about PJ's play in that while he gave up some plays he also made some plays. He competed. After re-watching the game (coaches film), I feel that PJ played better than I thought and it comes down to "getting his head around" on many of his miscues. We played against a very good receiving corp. I'm still a little "iffy" on DPOW but hell I will take it like a missed extra point. JUST WIN BABY!! WHO DAT!!!

Every person that enters a Gameday thread needs to understand and accept that what you read there is going to be spur of the moment, highly charged, off the cuff, instantaneous displays of emotional verbiage. The same person who rants "We're doomed!" on one page, may be the same guy screaming, "CHAMPIONSHIP!" a few pages later. I even see this happening among the people in the seats around me when I'm sitting in the Dome watching a game... I can't really expect anything different on an internet forum where no one can actually watch that crazed fan acting out his frustrations.

Frankly, I don't take everything I read there very seriously and recognize that the intensely emotional responses are just signs of true 'fanship'. I usually just get a good laugh from it all. It doesn't make sense to take the posts too seriously.

Looks like it was knocked loose by Williams but knocked out when Anzalone hit him a half second later. I'd say they each deserve credit for the fumble even though I know they don't record half forced fumbles as a stat.

This is more an indictment on the people voting for this award. 2 PIs, 2 tds given up, 9 targets, 8 catches, gave up 114 yards.

But yeah, congrats.
I mean, its just against a top ten offense in the league with arguably the best wide receiver tandem in recent memory, one of which on an all time historic pace, with an $82 million quarterback tossing them the ball, so yeah. No big deal.
