Timothy Loehmann, the former Cleveland police officer who fatally shot Black 12-year-old Tamir Rice in 2014, kicking off nationwide protests, resigned from a small town West Virginia police department, according to local officials.

“As of July 1, 2024, Timothy Loehmann has resigned his position and is no longer an employee,” according to a statement to NBC News from White Sulpher Springs mayor Kathy Glover, adding that she wouldn’t comment further on a personnel matter.

The Independent has contacted Loehmann for comment.

City Council member Thomas Taylor told Cleveland.com the decision was “due to the public outcry” around the hiring of Loehmann, who shot the youth outside of a rec center in 2014 within seconds of arriving on the scene, thinking the boy’s toy gun was a real one.

Activists, including the head of Black Lives Matter Cleveland, had called attention to Loehmann’s hiring in recent days on social media.…..

A Florida family says their three-year-old rottweiler was shot and killed after getting loose by an off-duty deputy walking his own dog on the sidewalk.

The deceased pup named Cash, belonged to owners Hannah Martin and her boyfriend Erick Palma, who owned the dog since he was a puppy.

"He was only a baby, only three years old. It’s just completely uncalled for," Palma said.


However, Cash’s was killed when an off-duty deputy was walking his own dog in the Casselberry neighborhood late Monday night, the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office told Fox 35.

In an incident report obtained by the outlet, it stated that Cash ran out of his house and "aggressively charged" toward the deputy and his dog, while Palma chased after the rottweiler.

"I see the gentleman with his dog right here. As I chase behind Cash, looking only at Cash, I yell, ‘I got him, he doesn’t bite,’ as loud as I possibly can,” Palma told the outlet.

The off-duty deputy states in the report that Cash attacked his dog, leaving his pup injured. The deputy then pulled out a handgun and fired one shot at Cash, the report said.

The report states the deputy brought his dog home, then ran back to Cash with medical supplies, but at that point, his owners had already rushed the 3-year-old dog to the vet, where it died.

"He didn’t give Cash or me a chance to see how we could diffuse this situation without killing,” Palma told the outlet.……

Brazil’s ministry of foreign affairs has been forced to apologise to the embassies of Canada, Gabon and Burkina Faso after three diplomats’ teenage children – all of whom are Black – were searched at gunpoint by police officers.

The incident emerged when the mother of a Brazilian boy in the group posted a security camera video online, prompting outrage – but also a weary recognition that such experiences are all too typical for Black youths in Rio de Janeiro.

The three diplomats’ children were in Rio for a five-day holiday with a white Brazilian friend, celebrating the end of the school year. All attend the same school in Brasília, where they live. It was their first trip without their parents.


Late Wednesday, they were returning from a day at the beach and were about to enter a building in the wealthy neighbourhood of Ipanema when a military police patrol car drew up. Two officers jumped out, ordered the boys to face the wall and searched them at gunpoint.

Rhaiana Rondon, the mother of one of the Brazilian boys, said the Black teens were singled out by the police officers during the search.

Rondon, who posted the video, said the footage made it clear that her son and his cousin were treated very differently from the Black foreigners.

“The officer guided my son much more gently because he is white, while the three Black youths had guns pointed at their heads,” she said.

In a statement to a state parliament committee, the teenagers said the officers “even demanded that they showed their private parts to check if there was any drugs underneath”.

One of the boys wrote his parents saying that “when the agents left, they told us not to walk around, or we would be searched again”.


Rondon said: “The footage, testimonies, and the children’s accounts are clear: the search was racist.”

The three foreign boys are the sons of the Gabonand Burkina Faso ambassadors, and the other is the son of a Canadian diplomat.……

A Florida police officer was arrested after being accused of trying to sexually assault a woman during a domestic violence call.

West Palm Beach police announced the arrest of James Matthew Bush, 33, on Sunday for sexual battery and robbery, according to CBS 12.

Around 9 pm on July 12, police responded to a report of a man throwing his girlfriend out of an apartment, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet. Police arrived and Bush told the man he should leave and go to court to file for eviction.


Bush then repeatedly told the victim to “go upstairs and have some fun.”

She responded: “OK…to talk?”

Once the two were upstairs, Bush is accused of grabbing her arm and leading her to a bedroom. There, she sat on the bed and offered him a kiss thinking she was in danger and he would rape her, according to the report.

The victim tried to escape by saying she had to go brush her teeth, and Bush watched before he guided her back to the bedroom, police said.

He then tried to coax the victim to perform a sex act on him, according to police. She told him “No,” but he told her, “I want this.”……..

To Sangaman Co credit, they fired the Deputy Grayson and charged him with murder! The woman attempted to pour out the boiling water (that is why she turned on the water in the sink) and the cowardly deputy interrupted her and began barking demands after she says "awwwe, I rebuke you in the name of Jesus".

She NEVER moved towards that coward Grayson nor did she raise the pot in an aggressive manner. Grayson stopped his partner from grabbing his med-kit, eventhough Massey was still breathing, he finally relented after 2+minutes had passed and his partner moved to apply pressure to her wounds.

It would be another 3+mins before Grayson returns with the med-kit and she was still alive when EMS arrived 7 mins after she was shot. I hope that thug burn in hell after he receives prison yard justice.

I don't know how we can watch this happen over and over again and not understand the gravity of it. A fellow American, shot in the head, through the eye, in her own home, her kitchen, murdered by the persons she helps pay to serve and protect our communities. To be this unsafe as a citizen of this country...it's, I don't know. A lot of empty emotions today.

Tik tok had the whole man vs bear debate and as a person of color, this feels like our man vs bear scenario. She called law enforcement because she suspected a prowler around her home, real or perceived. And I don't think it's hyperbole to state that she probably would have stood a better chance with the prowler, the bear.

Every person, particularly White Americans, really needs to ponder that and sit with it and let it marinate. She called public servants to come and serve and protect her, to protect, and that call ended her life. She would have been better off with the would be perpetrator. Again, to be that unsafe is untenable.
