Who will be the Saints starting CB opposite Kennan Lewis?

Champ will start. PRob might not make the team, unless someone goes down with an injury.

Anyone think we carry 6 CBs Lewis, bailey, white, Robinson, sjb, sweeting? I see it playing out in that order. Bailey starts and switches to nickel in nickel package with white on the outside. Robinson plays in dime packages. I see the saints playing 3 CBs and 3 safeties in passing situations. I don't see then going 4 cbs and 2 safeties.

Pat is and outside corner he starts, he cost too much to play dime.

I think this poll is the best way to select or 2nd starting CB. Who wants to go through all the drama of training camp to decide?

Right now i'd put robinson there, if he's gone back to being decent. Champ was best in nickel last season with the broncos and we'll go nickel a lot anyway, but i suppose we could have keenan and champ in normal formation and then champ go to nickel with robinson to the outside against 3+ wr. No idea, i'm curious to see what happens in a few months

Im rooting for Brian Dixon to add some drama to the discussion.

I may be way wrong here, but I say Robinson will play the majority of the snaps at #2.

My reasoning is this. Much of what RR likes to do on defense is predicated on a particular type of CB playing the #1 spot. Lewis is that type of CB. Champ is older, but still that type of CB. No one else on the roster is though.

IMHO, Lewis will start with PRob on the other side. Champ will play the #2 in certain situations dictated by matchups. White will be the primary dime back and SJB will do a lot of learnin'.

There are 2 reasons for this. 1st is simply Champ's age. I don't think they want him on the field for 600 snaps. But 2nd, and maybe more importantly, Champ needs to be healthy in case anything happens to Lewis. Champ would be able to man the #1 without the defense having to change anything to drastic schematically. You can't say the same for Robinson, White, Sweeting or SJB.

JMHO, of course, and I think I formulated this idea after reading one of Eliasj's posts.

I read somewhere that Rod Sweeting runs a 4.3. Does his game tape show any of his speed?

I'm actually pulling for P-Rob. Before his injury I felt like he was playing great football. P-Rob was really progressing and I was confident that in Ryan's system, he would only get better. Corey ain't as bad as some people believe. He has so many raw skills and it showed last year that he lacked experience. The addition of Bailey was smart on a lot of levels. Even if he physically can't produce on the field like he use to, he is the best teacher to a group of dedicated students. I see White really making a leap as far as his coverage skills are concerned. SJB is a rookie so who knows.

Champ is just a few years from being a shut down corner.

He played last year with a foot injury.

If he's healthy, he should be a beast.

And personally, I don't care where they play him, just play him.

Pat is and outside corner he starts, he cost too much to play dime.

Since when is $1.2m considered "cost too much?" Robinson's salary is a non-factor in putting together the depth chart.

To answer the question, Bailey starts. You can't keep a smart player like that on the bench. He'll naturally show why he is an NFL starter still to this day very early on in camp.

I think that White will be an excellent nickel CB. I wouldn't be surprised to see Robinson cut this offseason. I think that it will be Lewis and Champ wide...with SJB and Sweeting in reserve.
