I used to love the Godfather's Pizza buffet in da kennah brah as a kid...

I remember that. I also remember a long john silvers I think. I know that kind of fish doesn't compete in a seafood market but if they had one or a Captain D's I would go a couple of times a year. Something about malt vinegar and fish. Of course I never felt good after eating it.

I used to go to Kenner a good bit when Esplenade mall was new and hip. Recently my girlfriends son insisted on going to Olive Garden for his birthday (that is a whole other thread about bad food) Anyway, I was shocked at the state of that Mall. Its a shame, it used to be a pretty good alternative to the over packed Lakeside. Lakeside is just too darn central to everything. You can usually barely walk in there and you could not pay me to go there this time of year.

I also remember when Esplanade was the place to be. Heck, as a young kid, I remember when Lakeside had the dark grey floors/walls that made it feel kinda like a cave but I did really like playing the arcade games they had in different places in the mall.

Had my third sammich last night. I've yet to have a bad experience-no long waits, no outages, I haven't been stabbed or choke-slammed. I still contend this is the best fast food chicken sammich on the face of the earth, maybe the universe, possibly the multiverse.

I may have to find a different Popeye's here in Dallas or get one when I go home to NOLA for the holidays but I was kinda underwhelmed with the one I got at my local restaurant close to where I live. It wasn't even really spicy TBH, I mainly noticed the grease, so I'm hoping this was an anomaly. The wait was short though...

I agree. I'm totally down with buffets - Indian buffet is the bomb.com. But sushi just doesn't lend itself to it.

Had a similar issue here. But, will try the one over in Fairfax and see if that's any better.

It's been 20 years since I last ate there, but back then, I used to eat there regularly. Hard to believe it's still going after so many years. I'll definitely make it a point to stop by there next time I visit Lafayette. I miss home!

I still haven't had it.....I like to wait until the hype dies down. Problem I have is there's only 1 Popeyes remotely close and it's a Popeyes/Sbarro's/gas station/truck stop. I have a pretty good feeling I'm not going to get the legit Popeyes experience at that place.

I called my dad to wish him a Happy Birthday on Dec 17.

He had ordredd a spicy chicken sandwish for his birthday. And he described, bite by bite, while i was on the phone iwth him what it tasted like.

It sounded delivious. I wish I could have tasted it through the phone.

He didn't hold back in his effusive praise.

I only got increasingly jealous.

And *that*, ladies and gentlemen, is how it came to pass that I said "Go fork yourself!" to my father on his birthday.
