Raiders game should end Loomis' tenure as GM in the off season (2 Viewers)

Loomis isn't going anywhere. I'm just hoping that the narrative that is out there that he'll only hire someone they "know" is false. If he can't objectively look at, and interview, a list of potential candidates you might as well keep Rizzi and keep doing what you're doing.

I really don’t see Loomis being fired. However, I can see Loomis given a new title and moved around to allow a younger guy with fresher ideas to step in.

Frankly whether Loomis is fired or moves to another position, his most likely successor is Khai Harley so I don't expect there would be much difference in how we do things anyway. What really needs to happen is the scouting both pro and college needs to get better. And they need to stop trading up in the draft.

This whole mess is on him now. The Saints the past two weeks have not fielded an NFL team. Not one person playing today other than a couple O line guys should be even starting a game
I 100% agree with you on this, but there are those who will run for for their Powerpoint presentations with the financials spreadsheet and put forth the argument that "it is what it is and we have to live with status quo for the foreseeable future".
Fine. I can't argue that.
Do it without Loomis.

I’d be fine with that….

What if it turns out that (with DA for example) those people were right all along?

I mean, do you honestly think it is so unfair to point the finger at the GM of an about to be 5-12 team, after 2 seasons of disappointment? C’mon man….perhaps it was really the janitor all along that was the problem :)

I’d happily eat crow if he gets canned and suddenly things get better. I just think we are looking at the low hanging fruit and think we are being too quick to pull the trigger on a GM that oversaw the greatest era in our franchise’s history. He’s allowed one do-over IMO. Even GMs with NO skins on the wall get an opportunity to strip things down and start again.

I think it’s unfair when the roster he’s assembled is so injured and he hired the wrong guy (on recommendation from his SB winning HC) and got burned.

Mickey Loomis didn’t suddenly forget how to GM. This is our very first stinker season in like 20 years.

What if your scouts come back to you and say “This is a generational RB if I ever saw one…superstar.”

Still don’t want him? Just
I’d rather they not. If they do, fine, but I’m not going to be mad if they don’t.

He’s always been the problem….DA was just a symptom. The “keeping the window open” strategy should have gone the minute Payton left. Loomis’ cap mismanagement borders on criminal. Sorry but Loomis has hung on long enough to deservedly become the villain….

Hindsight is 20/20. Of course that’s what we wish we did now that this iteration didn’t work out.

We had a lot of injuries, so do other teams every year, we had zero quality depth because of poor drafting and limited cap resources, those are legit criticisms….I also firmly believe after years of being basically a bean counter, ML decided to take on an expanded role and its been an unmitigated disaster….So it’s not that he forgot how to GM, it’s that he never really did a lot of the GM stuff before….this is obviously speculation but I think it’s close to the truth….

And I wish folks would stop with the CSP recommended hiring DA, because making it sound like CSP made the decision for him is not making the point you think it is….

Loomis made one phenomenal coaching hire and one lousy coaching hire. I'm leaning towards giving him a mulligan.

Next hire should be someone who didn't have prior ties to the org ... which is why I don't think Aaron Glenn is a good idea.

Harley could be like a younger Loomis, a good numbers guy that knows he needs to take a back seat to whoever the head coach is. Having control with a good owner and a supportive GM is how you get a top head coach candidate.

Loomis didn’t make 1 lousy hire. He made 1 lousy hire, doubled down by bringing him back and then bringing him back again. Then still supported him after the firing. Oh, how about getting hosed by Philly for an extra 1st and picking a project LT and an undersized WR out of desperation. It’s more than just hiring DA, though that would be bad enough. It’s pushing for years behind the scene to have DA in line to take the job, it’s holding a fake coaching search even though it had been decided DA was replacing Payton, it’s getting further and further in cap hell knowing the talent we had was mediocre at best. It’s a long list of missteps without Payton around to hold his hand.
