Can somebody tell me what EXACTLY is the problem between Devonte Adams and the Raiders? I remember there being some issue with Derek Carr being traded/let go or whatever. But that's the only thing I can remember.

He came to the Raiders specifically to play with Derek Carr and then the new coach (Josh McDaniels) Benched and cut Carr and [mod edit - no profanity ] up the offense and now Adams stays double teamed and cant get any looks.

His base salary for this season was already guaranteed. Does it go to the next team or does Oakland have to cash it out to trade him?

I think any salary goes with the contract, but I could be wrong and it probably depends on if it's technically salary or they converted it to some kind of bonus.

The remaining unpaid salary would go to the next team, unless a trade partner had the Raiders absorb some of the cost through a restructure.

I'd make them do it since they want to get rid of him

Send a 2nd and have Raiders pay 15 million of his salary this season. Would cost us around 1.5 million for the deal, then we would have to figure out how to re-sign him after or trade his remaining 2 years in the offseason. We could probably find a team that would give a 5th/6th in the offseason for him if we can’t work out a restructure/resign

Send the Raiders a 2nd? That's a big no for me. This team needs to stop trading away high round draft picks. It's a large part of the reason we lack depth and would even consider trying to trade for a 32 year-old WR on a huge contract.

I'd do it for a 5th but only if they eat a huge portion of the contract this year and we aren't on the hook for a lot of money in future years.

Pierce was once a player and he understands how this is. I would trade Adams if I were them. It’s clear that he is unhappy and the Raiders could hopefully get some draft capital in return.

Underhill and his guys speculated after the Dallas game about who would be good trade targets. Adams name, of course, came up.

The consensus was that if we got close to the trade deadline, had a good record and this could be "the year", you go all in and trade for him.

Our record isn't where it needs to be but I think he'd be a huge difference maker on offense. This is likely our last year with aging defensive stars, and the clock ticking on AK and Taysom.

I say screw it and figure out a way to make it happen. We badly need another reliable receiving option. Derek and Davante have great history...go all in.

Jets or Chiefs seem the likeliest. Both badly need a WR1 and there’s the Rodgers connection. Bills traded away Diggs to start a cheaper youth movement at WR.

Ravens and Steelers won’t consistently feature Adams. They barely throw to their WR1s, let alone the 2nd WR. Saints could be in play if they’re willing to maneuver Adams’ remaining salary.

This is my exact take also. You only make this move if you think you truly are one piece away at making a serious run.

Yeah, I think he's still got a couple solid years in him and he would be an upgrade for us as a #2 WR, but the Raiders would need to eat a lot of that contract and take in the range of a 4th or 5th round pick for me to do it. And even then only if we aren't tied to significant guaranteed money after this year.
