I like the idea of DeVante Adams in Black and Gold, but I like the idea of Amari Cooper and Cam Robinson better. Price wise it may be about the same as getting Adams.

Definitely fair to think that, but I just go with the flow. If they seek it out, then I’ll back it. I’m intrigued by what he could do for usYeah, also a fair argument. In my view (and that's immaterial to the Saints view of course), the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
It’s not about just getting someone bc he’s available. We have 2 small bodied WRs who are great in their roles but cant consistently win 50/50s. We’ve had a few missed TDs in our 2 losses where having Adams be the target instead of Sheed or Olave would’ve most likely resulted in TDs and thus wins. If either of our 2 starters miss time, which is extremely likely, then we have no offensive weapons to replace them.I'm talking about exactly what I said in my post. It's not that hard to follow. You don't have to just buy whatever is available, leave him on the shelf for someone else to regret signing and trading for.
Oh yeah I agree with all that. Wasn’t replying to you about the ltc.It wouldn’t be a long term deal. The guy can still play. It’s no secret that we have been wanting to get another WR. We tried trading for Patrick. If we were not interested in adding another WR, then i wouldn’t even give this thought any time, but here we are.
I've heard all this before. Year after year. It’s not about just getting someone bc he’s available. We have 2 small bodied WRs who are great in their roles but cant consistently win 50/50s. Makes sense...
So the one where Sheed dropped it w the defenders having his hands at the same level as his doesn’t have a better chance of being caught by a 6in taller guy w proven better hands?I've heard all this before. Year after year.
There's no guarantee that another receiver makes the catches you're anecdotally relying on as evidence.
Additionally, every single position in the NFL could say 'if a starter misses time...'. You don't have the luxury of starter redundancy in this league. I'm frankly bored of pointing that out.
Better chance isn't a guarantee. Your own bias is showing in deciding he's going to make those plays, just because it's what you'd prefer to think will happen. So the one where Sheed dropped it w the defenders having his hands at the same level as his doesn’t have a better chance of being caught by a 6in taller guy w proven better hands?
The fact that you’re saying that someone of Adam’s’ level being added to this team for the price of something like a 3rd rounder wouldn’t be good for the teams future this year and next just shows you’re not having a good faith convo. You’ve made up your mind and refuse to look beyond your preconceived bias bc you think those resources should be spent on OL instead of WR, but there isn’t one available so you’re just gonna whine about it.
There is no O lineman available for trade that not only moves the needle but is an equivalent of an Adams, not even close. If we give up a 3rd for Adams that lets us use our 1st and 2nd next yr to address that issue. Also in case you didn't notice in the 1st 2 games before McCoy went down our OL did pretty well. As far as cap goes, I have no issue with ML making it happen.Better chance isn't a guarantee. Your own bias is showing in deciding he's going to make those plays, just because it's what you'd prefer to think will happen.
That doesn't move the needle enough to make the cost (salary cap, not just draft capital) worthwhile. Clearly our opinions differ on that point, so I don't expect us to agree.
I haven't mentioned OL by the way, but it's fair to say I do think there would be better ways to improve this team than adding another WR to the two starters we already have, on a team that wants to run the ball first and foremost. To say that those better options aren't available now, so get a WR instead, ignores the fact that you'd tie up future cap and draft capital that could later be spent on those necessary improvements. The cost has implications that are unpalatable.
