Raiders HC Antonio Pierce liked IG post saying Davante Adams played his last down in Vegas (1 Viewer)

Maw paw and all y’all know if he becomes a Saint he will very soon after need groin leg arm and neck amputations and be out until 2027.

Not being snarky but why in the world would you sign a 32 year old receiver to a long term deal???
It wouldn’t be a long term deal. The guy can still play. It’s no secret that we have been wanting to get another WR. We tried trading for Patrick. If we were not interested in adding another WR, then i wouldn’t even give this thought any time, but here we are.

Dallas interested too

Both teams have plenty of space to absorb his contract as is, although I would expect them to push the Raiders to pay some of it. The Saints are in a worse bargaining position because space is tight this year. Right now a team needs $12.9m to bring on Adams with his current contract, we have $4.5m in space with about $10.0m that could be cleared up if we restructured everyone that had base salaries worth restructuring. That leaves us tight on money in a year where injuries seem to be a problem.

You make a fair point. I disagree that we are seeking a player that would automatically be near the top of our WR totem pole, as Adams would be, but that's just my reading of who the team has looked at.

Excellent, let Jerry blow the budget on an area where his team isn't in trouble. Then he can wonder why he still can't run the ball or stop teams consistently on defense.

Davante is dominating the news cycle right now but this also happened recently. Cooper said a couple of years ago that he still considers Carr one of his favorite teammates of his career. He's certainly easier to make the $$$ work.

Now that's an intriguing possibility.

I believe the team looked at different positions to see which ones that they want to improve. Safety and WR. Being that we tried to make a move with each, it was a matter of what was available at the time. Justin Simmons they believed thought moved the needle and Patrick. Adams is way better than Patrick and I’m sure our FO would love to get him. It’s not often that a player like him becomes available in a sense

This year of all years has been strange for Dallas. It's like they weren't even trying to improve in the offseason after getting crushed at home in the playoffs, but that didn't stop the annual Cowboys hype train.

Yeah, also a fair argument. In my view (and that's immaterial to the Saints view of course), the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
