Raiders HC Antonio Pierce liked IG post saying Davante Adams played his last down in Vegas (2 Viewers)

I don't disagree, but his contract is absurdly large. I assume you agree that would have to be reworked to get him on the team. We may not have a ton invested in the WR position right now but overall cap space is still limited.
Yes it would absolutely require a restructure

Adams' contract should be an object lesson in why fans shouldn't waste their time pining after trades for other teams' fading/unsettled superstars. The bill is obscenely over priced.

And yet, here are fans knowingly convincing themselves that we should somehow go 'all in' for yet another WR.
If there was an aging yet pro bowl caliber OL available to trade for, and the perceived asking price was a 3rd rounder then I think we’d all agree that would be more beneficial to the teams success than Adams, however, there isn’t. So what are you talking about?

I am with you.

Sadly, the Raiders story is the ultimate warning that even a legendary franchise with legendary fans can lose their team when you combine long term incompetent ownership with a city lacking resources and then political will to support it.
After losing to Carolina, the team realized it hit the point of no return. Thats why people are jumping ship.

We'll see, but we shouldn't be giving up 2nd and 3rd round picks right now. I mean, watching the offense fall off a cliff after McCoy went out and the OL struggling since makes that clear.
You kind of made the perfect argument for trading for a WR like Davante. The best way to help a struggling O-line is to get rid of the ball quick to possession receivers like Davante.

I mean, yeah, but only for the right price.

If you get the opportunity to get a talent like Adams, with a re-worked contract, then you do it. The same ones who are saying anything about how much he has left in the tank, are the same ones who were wrong about AK41. Some of these dude’s talent can be dangerous for many years.

I dunno. If he's a 1 or 2 year rental, you gotta do it carefully. He's gotta stay healthy and do more than Shaheed has done to make it worth our time. I think he can, but there's clearly some risk there.

Agreed. Just like Alvin and his incredible sense of balance, there are certain athletic aspects that can make you dangerous long after the speed is gone. Davante's route-running and ability to separate have never depended on speed. It's what makes Mike Thomas's decline after his injuries so maddening: he could've pulled a Jerry Rice and played possibly into his 40s because his game never depended on long speed.

Everything is a risk in the NFL. Adams’ talent in the passing game, is on another planet than Shaheed’s. Adams is one of the best route runners in the entire NFL still. Plus, never discount chemistry. He is literally BFFs with our QB. That’s priceless

I'm not comparing him to Shaheed. I'm saying he's gotta produce more than Shaheed and he should, without question, but he'll also need to stay healthy and had had to deal with some injuries in the past.

Certainly doesn't mean we shouldn't take some risks, but the risks are magnified for a player this late in his career. And certainly his price tag makes that risk untenable.

I've already stated I want him, but for a realistic price.

Well Adams has played every game the past 3 years. I think he’s past any injuries you may be thinking of
