And rightfully so. I just seems to me that there is more strategy involved in Halo. Some of you may think I'm crazy, but so be it.
In Halo, smarts come into play so much more. There is just so much you can do once your engaged in battle and so many ways to outsmart your opponent.
In COD4 70% of the game just relies on reaction. No matter what gun you use, when you come face to face with an enemy, its just who can pull the trigger first. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that, its just a different style. I think they tried to even things out with perks and such. But failed miserable with crap such as martyrdom.
And for whoever said Halo guys suck once they move to COD. I went into my first game of COD the other day and jumped in a free for all game. I didn't know what gun I had, I had never seen the map before and didn't know a thing about tactics in the game. I ended the game in 1st place with 25 kills and 7 deaths. Then continued on to rape level 55's in Team Slayer just because I could pull the trigger faster.
So you see, I beat "good" COD players my first time on. How about all you folks who have never played a game of Halo 3 actually come try it out before you judge. And lets see how your quick reaction time fairs in Halo.
Stop putting words in other peoples mouths. I said that it's funny to watch guys fresh off of Halo 3 because their reaction is to jump when someone shoots at them. This is true of most of the people who come from that game, and it didn't start with Halo. People were doing it as far back as the original Quake. The strategy doesn't work in a game where movement is as slow as Halo, so it certainly doesn't work in CoD4 where you don't have shields to make up for your lack of ability to act intelligently in the way of gunfire. The best CoD4 players use the ability to kneel and go prone to avoid gunfire and grenades. When you can take a "B" flag in Domination on a small map by yourself, then you know you're pretty decent.
Except for the M16, the rest of the weapons are reasonably balanced in CoD4. The larger the weapon, the more it hurts, but the slower you move and the shorter distances you run. The weapons with the largest clips also take the longest time to reload.
It ain't just about reaction. It's also about knowing how to use your weapons. I switch between the AK 47 and the M5. The AK 47 can be fired continuously, but your aim gets worse the longer you hold the trigger. The M5 is strictly a medium to short range weapon which fires continuously, has a small clip, and is best used when shooting from the hip. I don't use my sights at all unless I'm trying to hit someone farther away than I can throw a grenade. I learned how to aim without using the sights
Levels mean nothing in CoD4. A level 55 is a level 55 because he played long enough to get enough points to get to that level. It doesn't mean he's any good. You could play Headquarters long enough with a decent team and get up to level 55 without registering a single kill because of how the points are scored for that game type. The game determines your rank internally based on how you did against other players of the same skill set but doesn't make it public.
To get to level 55 and play level 1s in free for all means you're one of the worst players in the game.
Congrats, you sure showed them.
