Rank who you like most of the 8 confirmed HC candidates plus Gruden (10 Viewers)

What players have called Gruden a racist?
No one says he's racist, but he got in trouble using racist language and homophobic slurs in professional emails. It's a PR nightmare, I'm sure professional athletes have played for coaches that use bigoted language before in America, It was something someone as intelligent as him should have known better than to do. I believe when people think no one is looking they will show you who they are. Plenty of fans and media would be Hella-upset if we hired Gruden to be our head coach.

I don't think he will ever be a head coach in the NFL again, but I hear he enjoys his gig at Barstool and doing some consulting in the NFL on the side.

He's not getting any younger and can't be much of a long term solution anyway.

Let's just put that idea to bed.

Vrabel would be mine as well, but I have to believe he's going to New England. If you're Bob Kraft, how do you not back up the Brinks truck for him, as they say, after firing Mayo after one year?

The likely two frontrunners for us are Glenn and Brady.
I think Vrabel to NE is a done deal and exactly why they let Mayo go. They've already interviewed to cover the Rooney rule. Kinda expect Vrabel to not leave NE without an agreement today. He would be my top choice as well, but too many ties to other teams and better potential situations make it a long shot he comes here.

I was honestly excited for Gruden to return to the Raiders. I thought it was only a matter of time before Vegas gets a SB win just like the Rams did to pay off their stadium and build a fanbase. I think the jury is still out on whether or not Gruden is a washed up, out of touch, old coach. He's still got the energy and fire and everything blew up before it could play out in LV.

I don't think it matters who we bring into the building, the league has its mind made up on who the Saints are and that's not going to change. Drew Brees was the perfect professional, an ideal poster boy for the league and they couldn't care less. So I think bringing a guy like Gruden in and the league "hating us" is overblown. They hate us anyway

I don't understand the "offensive minded" coach argument. It seems like it's leading a lot of people to just look for a great offensive coordinator that may not make the best head coach. What made Payton great was that he was a great coordinator, a great motivator, an UNQUESTIONED leader, and understood game situations. Vrabel has all of that in my opinion. I don't care what side of the ball his experience is when it comes to being a great coordinator, because he has all these other strengths. He's a serious leader and motivator, and the way he owned Belichick by working the clock with penalties shows he studies game situations. He's hands down the best candidate in my book.

Titans Troll Bill Belichick With Flags (Karma)

A Tier
Kingsbury - I know, he's pretty divisive. Something about him though, especially when he's given a young, dynamic QB like Johnny Manziel in college or Jayden now. I'd really like to see what he could do with Spencer. And he may not have the military general vibe of Vrabel, but he seems to be the type of guy players like to play for based on interviews I've seen. Even if a lot of fans don't really like him.

Glenn - Detroit's defense playing like All Pros with everybody injured this year has been eye opening. Again, he motivates his players and they give their all for him. Something we've sorely missed from the head coaching position.

B Tier
All 3 of these guys could make excellent head coaches, but we just haven't seen them do it before. We haven't seen it with Glenn either, but we've seen that there's more to him than coordinating a D based on how his players play for him. There's a lot of talk around Weaver being a culture changer as well, and if so, that's awesome. But it's still a little uncertain with him. Joe and Kellen are both creative young minds when it comes to coordinating an offense, but how strong are their leadership and motivation skills? We don't really know. Again, they could be great. It just seems like more of a risk.

C Tier
These guys have the demeanor to be a leader/motivator, but Rizzi was not only in charge of our game situations while he was head coach. He was in charge of that under DA as well. I seriously question his abilities there as we made some head scratching game situation decisions during that time. Chucky just feels like a guy who's system is old and has been passed by.

I mean, come on. Look at that dope. No thanks.

For me, it goes like this:

Tier one - These could actually be good hires

1. Eagles OC Kellen Moore
2. Bills OC Joe Brady

Tier two - Welcome to 7-10 to 9-8ville forever

3. Lions DC Aaron Glenn (Fri. January 10th)
4. former Titans HC Mike Vrabel

Tier three - Total wildcard but history isn't on his side

5. Dolphins DC Anthony Weaver (Wed. January 8th)

Tier four - What could go wrong with a dude who was mediocre at Texas Tech and continues to fail up!?

6. Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury

Tier five - The team will hate this dude and his meltdowns by week 8 next season and 99 percent chance he does't finish his contract

7. Saints STC/IHC Darren Rizzi

Tier six - Only a delusional narcissist would even consider them (Loomis smiles)

8. Giants AHC/OC Mike Kafka (Thu. January 9th)
9. Gruden

I could get onboard with hoping Moore/Brady are the next Payton.

Glenn and Vrabel are very meh. Neither move the needle but at least are mostly qualified.

I honestly don't know enough about Weaver to have much opinion. But a 1-year DC doesn't do it for me. Really don't want a Defensive HC.

Kingsbury is one of the great mysteries of football imo. I swear I think the dude's looks get him jobs. His performance as a HC is not good. OC? Sure, I guess. HC? Hell no.

Kafka would make Loomis the laughing stock of the NFL.

Gruden - Ditka 2.0. Old, washed up, no success in 20+ years plus the bonus fact that he's loathed by the league and considered a racists by many players. What could go wrong?
Serious question, what makes you think Moore would be a good head coach? He is just an OK OC.

Vrabel
Glenn
Weaver
Rizzi
Moore/Kingsbury
Brady
Kafka (intrigued, but just too inexperienced)
Gruden

I'm hoping for a strong leader and culture builder above all else, because we're going to be trying to make chicken salad out of chicken s*** for the next year or two from a roster perspective. Dan Campbell's tenure in Detroit is a testament to how important that is. I don't see any of the offensive coaches we're linked to being able to move that needle. I'd prefer to keep Kubiak, as I am bullish on his potential and think that continuity in the system will help the one QB we have worth developing on our roster.

AG
Joe Brady
Kingsbury
Vrabel

Vrabel - just because it's likely going to take some experience to turn this around but 1-3 are interchangeable
Brady
Moore
Glenn
Kafka
Kingsbury
Weaver
Rizzi

But, there are names out there that could be interviewed that I would have ahead of half the list.

About the same for me, aside from actually liking Vrabel and being very intrigued with Kliff after what he’s done with Washington this season. Admittedly that may be mostly Daniels.

1. Joe Brady
2. Joe Brady
3. Joe Brady
4. Joe Brady
5. Aaron Glenn.

I still think its a big mistake not to interview Jesse Minter. I think I may like him more than Aaron Glenn.
What about this Todd Monken I keep hearing that’s good as an OC wherever he goes but just doesn’t either apply or gets a chance?

He was the guy that made Georgia a very good offense then went to Baltimore and elevated their offense. Under him, Lamarr Jackson and the rest of the Ravens offense are having great years.

Before Georgia, he was in Cleveland and it was a disaster. Apparently Kitchen was calling the plays and he and Monken were butting heads non stop to a point of a very toxic environment. Both were fired at the end of 2020

Here's an article that goes into detail over it : https://sports.yahoo.com/browns-todd-monken-freddie-kitchens-coaching-total-mess-011950248.html

He would be good interview too.
