Rattler has to start! (2 Viewers)

Am I the only one seeing Haener throw the ball like a middle schooler if it’s over 20yds ? What are y’all seeing because it doesn’t seem like he can make the throws. Rattler hasn’t had the weapons or blocking available to him for us to say “welp he ain’t it”. He also played with less talent against our toughest opponents on the season
Like the 40 yard completion to Bub means on 4th and 11 in the 4th quarter?

Middle schoolers dont hit a receiver in stride at 4o yards.

Stop hatin'

There is no easy opponent with the way this team is playing right now. You can easily make an argument that Carolina is playing just as well. Thank goodness Dalton won't be the starter or they would likely beat us.
Thank you and I agree 100%.

Carr is gonna get the start. DA is trying to save his job and the panthers are a perfect game to have him come in and play the hero. DA will say now that some of our players are back, we’re going to make a run. 😂 Reality is this is probably a trap game for the saints. This is probably the only game that the panthers are going to go out of their way to win.
Who knew 2-6 teams had to be concerned with trap games?

If you cant see Haener is > Rattler than you dont know what you are looking at, The only thing Rattler has over Haener is mobility. Haener has more anticipation, takes better throwing angles, throws more accurately, has better footwork.
Haener's ability to alter his throwing motion to get the ball into tight windows is something I wish Rattler did.

Respectfully, I'm not seeing what you are ... Rattler has more upside potential, but more downside right now simply because he's raw and learning ... as is Haener, but he's a year further along ... Haener doesn't have the "GUN" Rattler does ... but neither did the GOAT, DB9 ... and like Drew, Haener shows signs of being able to throw with a little touch, something I hope Rattler picks up on ... some of Rattler's short throws have been incomplete bullets that may have been completions with a little bit lighter touch ... there's a time to THROW ... and a time to throw

All he was missing on offense this last game was McCoy and Shaheed. And he had 10 days between games to prepare. I haven't seen anything that would make me stop looking for a QB in the next draft.

Whoever starts at QB, there are going to be a lot of "I told you so" posts after the Carolina game. But, the fact is, we are going to see a game between 2 bad teams.

When the Saints made the switch to Haener against SD, I posted this on the gameday thread:

So now, the Chargers are going to give the Saints the middle of the field, the Saints will connect on a couple passes, maybe even *gasp* score a TD as time expires and they lose the game, and some will feel validated that Haener moves the ball better.

Then what happened? Then Haener connected on a couple of passes, couple of big plays on the legs of Kamara and Taysom, ... then Haener got sacked, threw a couple wounded ducks, an INT... and receivers dropped balls for Haener just as good as they did for Rattler. And remember, Carr didn't fare any better after the Cowboys game.

Start Haener against the Panthers? Sure, why not. I am not going to get into who's better between Rattler and Haener, but I am definitely not going to reach any conclusion or make any proclamation based on a game against the Panthers.

I won't go that far. Depending where we are in the draft at end of season, at some point, and hopefully this year, we need to get roughly 5 picks in the top 100. This organization has proven over the years, you give them that much ammo, they're going to hit on a high # of players.

Based on the Loomis interview from last night, that likely won't happen at the trade deadline. Teams call looking for a bargain when they assume a team is willing to sell, and sell low. He's not intersted, we'll likely wait till end of season to trade someone UNLESS we're offered proper value for said player. IE he's not going to trade Lattimore for a 3rd unless it's like a conditional 3rd that turns into a 2nd.

You have to be talking about 2017 because they haven't done squat since then.

Mostly, because once they hit on a big class, they tend to minimize the sizes after. So then it turns into a like a 5 man class because they start trading up to fill specific holes w/ players they have convictions on. One of the funny things about that 2017 class is a lot of it wouldn't have happened w/ out them staying out of the "we really like this guy" sweepstakes, vs just letting things come to them.

Anytime they have a bunch of them in top 100 that doesn't include them moving up for playrs in the 1st, and they just sit and pick the guys w/ best value. They tend to do farrr better.

Those 2017 guys are 30 now. And all we have left is Lattimore and Kamara. That's not a valid excuse for only having one solid starter (Bresee) to show for the 2023 draft. And we only had that pick because of the Payton trade. No all-pros drafted since that 2017 draft. Our biggest problem is lack of talent due to seven years of poor drafts.

Not an excuse, just pointing out that they are better at drafting when the have a high # of picks, and aren't trying to move up and select specific players. So I fully expect them to try and get a few more picks during the off-season to go along w/ what we ultimately end up w/.
