FSU fanbase on reddit is baffled by this pick - apparently one of the weaker links on a sub-par O-line, and everyone expected him to go undrafted.

People on the reddit thread complained that there wasn't a photo like there is for every pick, and the moderator just pinned this to the top of the thread:

"So the reason this dude doesn't have a picture is because of all the draft prospect lists we looked at, there was absolutely nothing on him. He probably wouldn't have made our top 1500 and we only grabbed around 500-600 photos."

I trust the FO on o-line, but I have a hard time believing that this guy was going to come off the board before the 6th if they hadn't taken him.

I get not being happy cause it's not Shaquem Griffin and some of you want to root for him, but some of you guys are laughably ridiculous when it comes to the draft. You have no idea where guys are ranked on actual NFL boards, and yet feel the need to post things like "what a waste of a pick, he would have gone undrafted."

You're not getting the player you want and the name players still available are getting passed on because the professionals don't think they are the best selection. There's hundreds of players available and the probability is damn near certain that the best player on the board is someone you've never heard of. Think Marques Colston, Jahri Evans, Terron Armstead.

:ezbill: stop saying things that make sense!!

I’m an FSU fan...and I honestly didn’t even know he was an NFL prospect. But he’s a Saint now...so whatev.

He absolutely was a weak link on an atrocious o line. I know they are great at developing o lineman, but this pick is worse than the Tavon Rooks pick.

The Saints deserve the benefit of the doubt, but it's never a good look when the college fanbase goes 'wtf' for their own player.

If nothing else, it sounds like he will be useful in practice for building up Davenport's confidence.

Benefit of the doubt given as our FO will have a vision for him. There's some material to work with as he's got good size and not too bad (on very limited viewing) in pass pro. He's very grabby and players tend to stick to him. Other than cutting on the backside of runs, his run blocking looks very poor technique wise. He's not got a lot of experience on OL so maybe they see him as a piece of clay to mould.

But I have to think in terms of value, this was a pretty big reach. I could be wrong. Maybe 31 other teams were desperate to get him....but I don't think so.

Just a bit of a head scratcher but we'll see in a few years time.

We needed ol depth so from a position standpoint I really like it. The only thing I can think is they heard another team was going to grab him so they had to take him now.

Hard to understand the pick. If it's an O lineman wanted there's still Brandon Parker and Crosby out there who have a legitimate chance of making and playing for any team in the league. This pick could have been done in the 7th round easy. He doesn't have the bend to be a guard and his arms are too short to be a LT so he's a RT only. Seems like a reach in the 4th round.

Yeah, at face value this is the worst draft pick we've ever made in the Payton era. By far.

Also, it seems he choose not to work out at pro-day? If he didn't bother, why bother drafting him.

Edit: NVM, hurt his quad doing the broad jump at his pro day.

So my question is if a weakness is "fixable", why wasn't it fixable in college? More one-on-one attention by NFL position coaches? Better coaches? Body development?
