Ronald Curry interviewed for Saints Offensive Coordinator (1 Viewer)

Saints will likely have to settle for Curry as the OC.

Plus continuity…

Plus it reinforces “keep doing what you’re doing”.

I can’t wait til we hire one of the Rams or 49ers coaching candidates at OC so we can stop seeing the keep doing what you’re doing stuff while the team is making moves to improve

….or they are getting the minority interview out of the way so they can hire who they want.
So, we've learned that the minority candidate must be external, a GM or HC hire and we've already interviewed a minority candidate. Throw in the towel, @meily. 🏳️

I can see the Saints promoting Curry, and then bringing in a QB coach/Passing Game Coordinator from outside to bring in some new ideas. That might actually be a safer choice depending on what they really think of Curry as he would already have a connection with Carr and what he likes. But it's pretty clear that they are going to make him earn it if that's the route that they go.
Scrapping the entire system doesn't make much sense to me after deeming Carr's 1st year w/ Saints a learning year. Unless you want year 2 to have a similar narrative you potentially build on top of what you already have. Just w/ fresh ideas. I'd welcome either or.

My gut tells me that we will hire RC based on the teams continuity philosophy in recent years. My heart wishes that we would hire one of the other candidates so that we can have a totally new look offense. My candidate's strongest asset would be his ability to build his offense around his personnel strengths. For example, I think Joe Brady does this really well.

I hope that my gut is wrong.

There are allot of new coaching positions out there which means assistant coaches and coordinators will change. Are there any of DA's current staff out interviewing for these open slots or just Curry for an internal promotion?

Hey, uh, maybe every time a black man is interviewed for any position, someone doesn't have to scream "Rooney Rule". Let's try that.

Maybe, I don't know, maybe those people are actually qualified for the position.
Or maybe they actually like and respect Curry and chose to give him the opportunity to interview for a promotion.

Off the top of my head Joel Thomas made a lateral move to the giants. Michael Hodges interviewed for the Pats DC. Obviously two of his coaches got hired away as DCs last year. If you’re a defensive coach and three of your guys get hired away as DCs in two years that’s pretty good.
