Ronald Curry interviewed for Saints Offensive Coordinator (1 Viewer)

How long has RC been in this system? If long term should we expect the same offense with a possible change in play calling?

Seems like if your going to make a change that involves termination of an 18 yr coach you would make a complete change

As a VA native, would love to see Curry get the job. He's a legend around here for any football fan that wasn't in diapers around the 2000s. Dude made Michael Vick look like Malik Willis in high school. In another universe he would have been Lamar before Lamar. I know this means little about his coaching promise but still want to see the dude succeed.

Here's a pretty good video about him:

If the Saints thought Curry was the best option for OC, then they should have fired Pete at mid-season. They could have let Curry be the interim OC and see if he has a feel for play calling. Not doing that was a mistake. I would prefer we hire someone with play calling experience.

I can see it now. Loomis: We reviewed all available candidates and are happy to announce Pete Carmichael back as our new OC. Looking forward to bringing excitement back to the dome in 2024!!

Curry and Joel Thomas both interviewed for offensive coordinator positions last year and Curry may get some more looks as head coaching jobs get filled.

It's funny, if we were any other fan base we would look at Curry's resume as pretty darn competitive. A Sean Payton protege that had MT as the wide receiver coach for that 2019 season. Was the QB coach that helped get Jameis off to a 5-2 start and navigated that traveshamockery of a 2021 qb room. QB coach in 2022 that helped an old Andy Dalton set a career high in completion percentage. 2023 helped turn around a horrible red zone offense and getting them to 11th in passing yards.

If we were any other group, we would be excited by his hire. The real question for me is, does he have anything else to add or change from the previous system? What's his vision?
Exactly my point on Ronald Curry's resume. It's just as impressive as any of the other potential asst coach candidates being interviewed AND he already has the relationship with Carr. I'm trying to find what makes the majority here believe Curry is not the answer? Other than, 'they worked for Shanahan/McVay' what makes the other candidates more viable?

Unless he had no input on play calling it’d be a slight variation of what we were doing this season. We see what happens when you run it back and teams are clamoring for him. New coaches, new blood.

Curry would be the cheap easy hire and another yes man, so it might actually happen.

Maybe the fact they are looking outside for an offensive coordinator.

Curry could well be promoted to OC after the Saints finish their interviews, they have been hyping this guy up and if he is not up for a promotion and not getting looks outside the organization then what do we actually have in him.

I don't think it's Curry that's the issue. He certainly has advantages because of his familiarity with Carr so there would be no learning curve there. The issue is that the Saints need to get more up to date with current NFL offenses, and Curry doesn't do that.
