Ryan Clark Calls Sean Payton a Thug (3 Viewers)

Sean put a Prima Donna who was under-performing in their place. This was about Wilson being a Social Outcast from the team, a situation he created with his "own office" where players could not approach him without an appointment and wearing his own Jersey to the first day of training camp. This was done to cut off that entire gigantic mistake cleanly so they can more forward faster.

And Sean Payton establishing himself as Alpha in Bronco-land.

I can't wait to see what QB he moves onto next season.

I don't doubt that at all but they'll always be a team willing to sign a proven vet like Russ. I mean, guys with lesser resumes have gotten 150 mil guaranteed, I hear. :funny1:
Yeah and people will see that and try not to make the same mistake we did. I’d rather have a younger, hungrier player.

I don't get the big deal. Russ got paid a MASSIVE contract, they spent a ton of draft capital, and gave him a bunch of extra concessions. And for all their trouble he's been extremely disappointing. I know he's "gotten better lately", but his numbers are still nowhere near worth his contract and trade price. I would do the same. Drop this clause or see you later, because you've been a big disappointment.

I want Sean to fail as much as the next guy, but I recall the media absolutely dragging Russ last year for being awful. Now all of sudden he's some sympathetic figure because SP doesn't want to tie his tenure in Denver to a sinking anchor. And surprise surprise, ESPN is right there to blow their "racism" dog whistle.
Yeah I don't get all this. For starters, I'm a big Russ fan, but he's been bad. When I saw this at first I thought, "Well guess they had enough of Russ and want to have the ability to move on". NFL stands for Not For Long, three years of bad play on a franchise crippling contract is going to get you canned.

In three years when the Broncos are Payton's team Broncos fans will forget all this nonsense. When they're consistently winning 10-12 games and contending for the division they'll realize that the media and the League hate him and will go to any lengths to discredit him.

He is easy to hate though. (I still love ya Sean!)

You obliviously have seen his numbers this year. Sean wants another QB, that's all.
Honestly, it's more than numbers. Truth is, film and metrics match.

We still see a lot of the same things, although they began implementing the system during the offseason. A lot of this has been a Russ thing for YEARS. Again, we assumed that because he was successful in a different system that he is a "good QB." Skillset never really was a fit and Russ has always been an off-schedule guy.

The way our line is playing it might make sense, but I’ll still go with no.

Edit: to add more detail, I posted these Wilson stats in another thread.

He’s further down the list on stats that try to add more context:

17th in ANY/A
22nd in DVOA
21st in DYAR
19th in EPA/DB
21st in QBR
Can you get those 2021 numbers for JW, TS, and Taysom?

But what if they're not? Lol

I don't disagree regarding a mismatch between Russ and Sean; I'm simply pointing out the unnecessary theatrics and the lack of diplomacy involved. The fact there were discussions behind the scenes about waiving his injury clause, and then you start "getting in his face" is just theater. If we can get the playoffs, I'll continue the charade, but if we don't, I will make an example out of you.

I agree with you. In the situation, the last person I'm mad with is Russ. You offering me all of this money and I haven't even taken a snap? lol

But I think that it should have been handled different and if the injury clause guaranteeing the 2025 salary wasn't in there, he would have been cut without incident. It is a messy situation all around, from the people who gave him the contract, to the situation itself. Honestly, I think CSP might be the lightning rod but who knows.
