Sad news...sr.com member St. PJ has passed away (1 Viewer)

He didn't have to die. Hope his family can find peace in their suffering. I hope those who came into contact with him unknowingly don't fall ill. I pray that all who are reading this thread truly appreciate how deadly this virus can be, but also too that we have the power to prevent to mitigate its spread.

My gosh, what a shock. Prayers for his family.

I haven't posted in a while. I'm doing my annual "recharge of my Saints fan batteries after a post-season loss by staying away from Saints Report and other Saints news." This got my attention. My wife lost her father - he was only 57 - to this damn virus. Now PJ. RIP PJ.

Very sad 😪
God bless and comfort his family and friends.
So young 😟

What do you mean?
Back in March they started opening up to the younger population .. alot of my friend circle who are in the 40s starting posting they had gotten vaccinated.

I'm 42 myself and just got my second shot (first in early April)

My understanding was St PJ was around that age.

St. PJ and I had a good PM exchange a few months ago. So shocked to find out he passed away. We didn't always see eye to eye, but we also had a great deal of respect for each other. I enjoyed his passion for his faith and for the Saints. Really bummed that I never got a chance to meet him in person.

Prayers for his wife and family. I wish them comfort during this trying time.

RIP big guy. You'll be missed by many.

I saw a post from PJ's wife Jessica with the news that St. PJ passed away this afternoon from COVID. Please keep the family in your prayers. Here is her post:

This is PJ's wife, Jessica. Today around noon, PJ passed away from Covid-19 very peacefully at Lafayette General hospital surrounded by family. His close friends gathered in the parking lot to also be near him. He had received all of his sacraments before he was intubated. He spent his last minutes holding his rosary & having Padre Pio relic (piece of his glove) touching his chest. He will be cremated and buried with his Mom and Grandparents.
https://www.johnsonandbrownfuneralhome.com/ will be in charge of the funeral. It will be held at the local Catholic Church in Lacassine which burial on the side of the church.
No official arrangements have been made at this time.
Thank you to everyone that have called, texted, stopped by, brought food or just prayed for him.
Our family is very grateful for our supportive family and friends. We are overwhelmed at the outpouring at this time. PJ and I have always talked about his life. We have always felt that he would have a short life. I am not sure why but God was guiding us for this moment. PJ has always told me that if something happened to him, he knew I would be fine and our girls would be taken care of. This has been proven true these last months by the overwhelming support we have received.
THANK YOU!

If you would, when you can get the info, please post info or a link on how we can donate to Jessica and his family.
