Saints and State close to lease extension/major renovation (1 Viewer)

I like everything I have read. I do hope the standing room only would be tiered. I went to a soccer match and that’s how they were. As far as the ramps go, they can go. Yes I have memories, but they are relics and better off gone.

.....

With renewals at such a high right now, how do they pick who loses out on their seats? If they don't want to really cause a fire storm, I guess they can time it for after Brees retires and the CBA expires and announce the bad news during an off season when renewals are lower.

I would hate to see us lose seats just to add more clubs and suites. And escalators.

Disagree. The ramps are great at getting a lot of fans out of the Dome in an efficient manner. Escalators in almost every stadium I have been in, are just a bottleneck and are inconvenient.

Surely they are putting new seats in the terrace, even though I don't see it listed.
This. If they don't replace those ugly, multi-colored seats, it will still look like an old stadium no matter what else they do.

They can adjust that like they did when they moved the Press Box to top of Terrace. If anything it will help eliminate some of the bandwagon Visiting team/StubHub tickets, Move the STH is those seats. I actually like the little standing room 300 club at the Pelicans games(SKC).

Anyway this is what looks like at a Cowboys game. EEEEEKKKKK

So...the people who can actually see the field get a giant screen. The people standing who can't see the field get a handheld TV by comparison. Makes sense.

That literally looks like people watching a game at a bar. Take away the background and it's just people standing around watching a game.

Once Brees leaves, they can still sell tickets based on Payton. Kamara and Thomas are also becoming more recognized as some of the best players in the League.
I wouldn’t worry about renewal rates dropping.

So, I was referring to the fact that despite the nostalgia, I am not forever attached to them.

I was hoping for a 20-25 year deal but I guess this will do.

Update

Lease extension options: Under the proposal, the Saints’ new lease agreement with the state would keep the team here through 2035, a ten-year extension to their current deal through 2025. But the Saints will also have two five-year options to extend the lease even farther into the future. So technically the new deal could keep the Saints here through 2045.

That article confirms two things.

1. No seat replacements in the terrace.

2. There will be a loss of seats in the terrace in order to add standing room only areas.

Wants, needs and musts: The original master Plan performed by Gensler Architects projected a $700 million price tag for the project. To reduce the cost and scope of the project to fit their $500 million budget, officials eliminated several projects, including: Gate A ramp removal on Poydras Street; new seats in the terrace and loge levels; the replacement of acoustical tiles in the ceiling; proposed new tailgate areas on the stadium apron.

Well, dang...

If I were the Saints I would not sign any new extension that did not include immediate cleaning of the Dome’s exterior including of course the roof.

That's part of an ongoing lawsuit. They can't clean it.
