Saints at the top of Davante Adams’ wish list [Raiders trade Adams to Jets for conditional 3rd ; Jets paying Adams’ entire remaining salary] (3 Viewers)

There probably won’t be any significant movement on Adams and Vegas until Tuesday which is the start of Week 6.

Schultz’s update is the opposite of CBS’ Jonathan Jones reporting a few days ago that the Raiders were open to eating Adams’ salary in order to get the highest compensation back possible. That aligns with Rapoport reporting that the Saints are the most aggressive. Doesn’t make sense for that to change while the Raiders want the highest package back to maximize value.

Fair enough. I just think a healthy OL, an elite pass rusher, and/or the ability to learn how to manage end game situations is what he needs, not a WR. But, maybe Adams could make the difference in some situations.
Oh he definitely lacks in in game situations. Although, when we were blowing teams out, it wasn’t an issue. He needs that again

And to never quote Kendrick Lamar again. He hasn’t earned that right to and probably jinxed himself along with our team

Yeah, but like AK said, blowing teams out isn't reality in the NFL. The reality is that almost every game is close and outside of like 3 great teams and 3 horrible teams every year, the rest of the teams are so even that very small things makes the difference between winning and losing. On defense I think we lack an elite pass rusher that can get to the QB while you play softer zone late in games and I think we need an OL heathy enough/good enough to either close out games by running the ball or to protect the QB in two minute situations where the other team knows you are going to throw.

Maybe they’re putting that out there knowing Saints have best package but need them to eat a bunch of money, probably hoping someone else comes in with something closer where they can save that money.

Or the Saints aren't offering the 2nd round pick they want and they are saying that to try to get the Saints to give them a 2nd and more in order for them to agree to take on a chunk of Adams' salary. They may want to trade Adams now but there are several weeks until the trade deadline. Unless Adams hits social media or the press with some toxic stuff they don't have to hurry. And I don't get the sense Adams is that kind of guy.

If all you have is a hammer, every problem starts to look like a nail. What I mean is that just because Adams is the only great player available in trade doesn't mean he's the solution to our problems.

Yep

The contract money part ensures that Adams will be

J e t s
Jets Jets Jets
That’s fine. If the raiders want someone else to take on that albatross of a contract, good luck to them.

So what's the vibe in the thread? Saints gettin him, or nah ?

Don’t need blowouts. Just need a good enough cushion to where he doesn’t put our defense in compromised situations at the end of games. I’m sick of the reinDEER games nonsense at the end of games. We need to be the bully and not be the one being bullied

is there a way for the deal to happen where the Saints pay more of the cash while the Raiders take more of the cap hit?

I love these threads. We argue for 100 pages about whether or not we should acquire some awesome player. Some people are all for it. Some people are hesitant about the cost in terms of cap and draft picks. A lot of people (like me) are in the middle just looking to see who can make the most compelling case for or against. We weigh the pros and cons. We talk about what the offense/defense would look like with him. We talk about maybe making a run because he's the missing piece.

And then the dude promptly goes somewhere else. I love this place and I love threads like this. The back and forth is so good. The only thing that would make it better is if we had some unique insight from an insider. Oh how I do miss Swimmer. Oh how I do miss him so.
