McCoy is our best player. Yes I said it.

Speaking of…saw this while scrolling twitter just now.
I don’t recognize the middle player.
According to OTC’s max restructure notes it looks like we can create up to 47.3 million in cap space by restructuring everyone possible. So we have the ability to go alot of different ways with how we approach clearing the space this season, but for sure paycuts for Cam, Taysom and Carr will be incoming.
This is good. No one can complain about tying ourselves to one of the best Centers in the NFL while freeing up cap room. I'm more interested in Davis and Jordan's cap numbers. They seem to be falling off a cliff in terms of production.
It's crazy to me that there are people out there that actually think NFL teams operate with no foresight whatsoever and wouldn't see this problem coming years in advance and fix it if it ever came to it.
As if the Saints right now and each year are shocked when they see right before the league year that they're negative on the cap and are now scrambling trying to figure out what to do.
People don't agree with the philosophy when you're not a contender. We all know that Mick does this, but stretching the limits as a non-contender is shortsighted. Also, the restructuring concept is akin to using one credit card to pay off another because you still owe the player money.
I know this because we've discussed Mick's philosophy in several threads. If Drew was behind center and we were a legit title contender, this would not be a discussion, but we need to reset/rebuild strategically, and from the outside, that does not seem like what's occurring.
For record, this is not about McCoy. Prior to Ram's injury, they looked like great picks.
We hang on to our favorite players at least a year too long. Cam will be a HOF guy and an all-time Saints great, and Demario may get into ring of honor one day. However, it's time to make some business decisions on those guys. This is good. No one can complain about tying ourselves to one of the best Centers in the NFL while freeing up cap room. I'm more interested in Davis and Jordan's cap numbers. They seem to be falling off a cliff in terms of production. And Carr, because I simply want to move on to a long term franchise QB, whoever that may be, without being tied to Carr for the next 4 years. I'm already a bit disappointed that we're going with him for 2025 without an heir apparent. I doubt that changes on draft day this year, so I'm kinda already looking to next years lol.
I was noting that I don't think most posters think Mick doesn't have a plan because we do the same thing every year. In my view, the primary criticism is the philosophy, not the ability to get under the cap. I'm sure he or Khari has listed players for potential restructuring every year. This has nothing to do with my post TBH. I am just pointing out that regardless of if you believe in the philosophy or not, the team is organized enough to not put themselves in an unforeseen predicament where all of a sudden it is not possible to get under the cap.
Agree on Cam Jordan, but Demario Davis literally just had a career-year in tackles.
He isn't the same player for sure, and you may see him chasing unsuccessfully in coverage slightly more than we're used to, but to say his production has fallen off is a bit false. The guy is still balling and is just a year removed from being an All-Pro.
You could do a whole lot worse than 36 year old Demario Davis as your starting MLB.
Cam, is a different story, and it sounds like he's amendable to a pay cut. He has a goal of playing his entire career with one team. It's something extremely important to him personally, as an ode to his father and his career. He will do whatever it takes to remain a Saint.
