Saints could get to $14.61 million under the cap without restructuring Derek Carr, after Saints salary cap potentially increases by $5M (37 Viewers)

If Carr goes to Indy or Jets or any team that is "built to win" and still only wins 5-7 games, he'll have no more excuses. More people will realize he just isn't that good. Never has been.
I don't know about that. I know someone still making excuses for a QB who has been a serial failure at every stop he's been on, and is still beating the drum with old and new excuses for it every day or so, around various part of the internet. You can't account for the 'logic' of individuals.

No I wouldn't want Mayfield over Carr. Why would I want a QB who loses to a banged up 49ers team, a Cowboys team that was not good(you think getting swept by the Eagles is good? Playoff Cowboys never let that happen), and the Falcons. TWICE. Mayfield has all that talent on his team and still the Bucs only benefit from a bad division. We saw what Carr did with a healthy roster.

Outside of the 3-1 start, Mayfield's wins were against us, Giants, Panthers, Raiders, Chargers(haven't beaten good teams). I mean those are impressive wins. We should be be familiar with this.

I’m not sure if this is a serious statement or not. I really hope this is a lame attempt at trolling

I wanted Baker over Carr 2 years ago due to the contract Carr was getting compared to what you would have to pay to Baker and if he did good you sign him like the Bucs did. The next thing is you are talking about wins Carr 5 wins all came against teams with a losing record. The Cowboys was 1-0 when we beat them and the Falcons was 4-2 but they all finished with losing records. Last year was the same he only beats bad teams since he's been here. Some blame does go to DA.

Luckily, we will get that answer with what they decide to do with Carr.
I don't think letting go of Carr would automatically equal a rebuild. It wasn't a rebuild when they got him, so they could move on from him without it being a rebuild. Then again, rebuild is a very subjective term that looks different to different people.

I think you're mistaking "rebuilding" for "tanking". Replacing the most important position in football is a rebuild move without a groomed replacement till it isn't. They'll try to be competitive, but the cap crunch will probably be difficult. I don't think they'll get the 1st overall pick.

If Rattler comes out with an exceptional and unprecedented 2nd year leap. It accelerate the timeline immensely to the point where you go right back into a building phase.

Cutting a quality starter that will win you games isn't a competitive move.

Yikes. Why not restructure Carr already?

I'm not mistaking "rebuilding" for "tanking." I come from a family of contractors, carpeteners and construction workers. Remodeling one room in a house is not a rebuild to me. Moving on from the QB is not a rebuild to me. Like I said it's a subjective term that means different things to different people.

A rebuild to me would be turning over half the roster or more. Not just the QB.

You're assuming Rattler would be the starter. Carr leaving doesn't necessarily mean Rattler would be the starter.

Which is why I don't think they will cut Carr and not bring in someone else. Moore and Loomis made it clear that they want to compete. You don't get the college record for most wins as a QB without an obsessive competitive streak.
