Saints exploring cornerback market, including C.J. Henderson (1 Viewer)

Our DC is a secondary guy and secondary coach help build the GOAT secondary.

So, it's probably coming from them, but they and Payton probably feel that for us to stay above water till the offense gets up and running is with an elite defense/secondary.

They seemed more focus to improving the team through defense. It honestly makes a lot of sense.
The refs will never let us get away with the mauling that they let that GOAT secondary get away with.

Not at all. I don’t see MT and the staff making up, and would rather have CJ than a 3rd or such pick. We wouldn’t get a first out of MT with how it’s all played out. I love the way he plays but don’t think he wants to be here anymore and think the situation is becoming untenable.
Be realistic. There is no way anyone in their right mind would trade MT13 for a CB who has done nothing and whose team is already looking to unload him after only one year and paying him $12 million already.

I’m ready to move on from MT if we can get a decent return for him. A top 10 pick at CB from last year with 3 years left on his rookie deal would be nice. Like someone was saying if we can get Chark thrown in I’m definitely sold.

The connections are interesting. Urban and Michael Thomas. Marone drafted CJ and he’s a former teammate of CJGJ.

The Jags Board for the most part would be happy to get a 1st for CJ, but would be happy to trade him for Zach Ertz +3rd. Lots of speculation regarding CJ being off for covid the last two weeks and now off for personal reasons. They think their secondary is better off without him and would want a TE, WR as trade comp. I would love to trade with them. MT + 2nd for CJ +1st. Do it somehow....lol

I think Loomis can make anything happen with the cap, so that is not really an issue. I seriously doubt they send CJ and Chark for Thomas and a pick, unless it is a very high pick back from us. We don't have any trade bait at TE or WR, besides Thomas. I would go with that trade - MT + 2nd for CJ +1st. No idea if the Jags are crazy enough to send their first, which is often a REALLY high first.

They will not sniff a 1st for him. There are red flags all over the place with him. I would hope the Saints do not part with anything higher than a conditional 4th that can become a 3rd.

I don’t want to trade MT. I’d rather the situation be fixed. Once again, I just think the situation is becoming untenable. I never insinuated that we’d get fair value for MT.

Never said that. But it's obvious that Duncan goes out of his way to subvert the organization with unnecessary drama that could have otherwise been handled in-house.

I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to do it and I'm not questioning that he's a "fan" of the team just because he wrote a book. I'm just engaging in the free and open discourse the same way as he is and choosing not to be a consumer of his content and voicing caution to those that wish to do so.

Maybe he just does his job - to report news, good or bad. If the Saints wanted to keep it "in house" they probably shouldn't have talked to a reporter about it.

We get it bro you're a Scooter Stan. Why is it so hard to accept that some people here aren't as enthusiastic about him as you?
Hey B, I’m no Stan for him but I do appreciate someone who doesn’t just pump sunshine all the time. He’s a tad too negative for my tastes but I’d still rather that than rosy bull crap all the time. Which just isn’t realistic.

For sure. Their board pretty much assumes that a 3rd might be the best they could get, and realizing that, they would rather keep him and tend to his off field problems in the hope they can be fixed. On another note, the Jets board has given their approval (hilarious I know) to a MT to the Jets with CJ Mosley and a 1st coming back. I would counter that with Baun going to the Jets as well, with their 2nd in 2023 coming back our way. So MT+ Baun for CJ Mosley +1st 2022 +2nd 2023. Take all this with a grain of salt as these are all speculations for people who have no clue, including myself.

I don't really like JD, either. But, I can't criticize him for reporting something that somebody else did. I'd rather know than not know. If anything, the other reporters deserve criticism for not reporting more about what happened.

You can always work around the cap, but it does affect the roster. That's why we had to let a #2 CB, WR and 2 of the top of our 3 DTs walk along with a lot of our depth.

True. But, the Saints signed Junior Galette and Jimmy Graham to new contracts and still got rid of them, so it's not unprecedented once you get on the wrong side of Payton (See what happened to Ingram when you don't return phone calls). But, who knows if it's come to that.

Right, and a big reason why we were able to build such a good team was not giving out contracts that came back to bite us.

You name the team and there is a good bet that there is a "rumor" that team is in play to trade for him. Cowboys, Eagles, Falcons, Cardinals, Bills, Jets, Saints... What is wrong with him? Must be really bad to dump a 1st round pick after only one season. Are we sure his leg isn't about to fall off? Cause if his leg is about to fall off then he's the Saints kind of player for sure...
