Good. Now you can start to look at who you're going to bring in. Somebody who doesn't have the brain of a scarecrow, hopefully.
I think the important thing is for the players to show that they are worth taking the risk for. When a coach gets fired there are obviously big problems, but a great coach is going to want to feel like there is at least something to work with if he were to take the job. The next 8 games of effort by the players could help make this team more attractive because it isn't as attractive as some others that are likely to come open this offseason.

Rizzi won me over when he yelled back at Arthur Smith instead of apologizing to him last year.

Yep. I am really excited to see him as our HC. Wish it happened a game or two sooner but oh well.

I and friends I talk to during games have always commented that it seemed like Rizzi was the actual real leader on the sidelines, and DA was also going to him for a lot of game management advice at certain moments in year 1.

I think Rizzi will bring some enthusiasm, leadership, and better management skills overall.

Man…being a NFL head coach has to be tough. Imagine being fired from your job and the whole city/region celebrates it and some even curse you out calling you every name in the book as you exit. 😂
Aw, he’ll take his millions and go on vacation for 6 months. Not sorry at all.

i get it. ( i said yesterday on Andrus post game tweet thread )

But if you are intent on holding back info from print, simply to maintain access, that would have a significant impact on decisions ( a la Locker room lost was weeks ago ) then why sit on it and wait for the "ok" ?

Saints dont pay his salary, subscribers/readers do. You erode trust of your audience, you find yourself looking for employment.

Its a fine line, i understand it. But at some point the "news" is waaaaay bigger and the story must get told.

Access journalism is an issue in sports reporting.
I don't post a lot, but this is one area I think is misunderstood. I don't believe this is a question of "access journalism," rather, think of it more like obituary preparedness. A famous actor gets really sick and is on life support. Newspapers are going to prepare an article on his life and death, but they're not going to pull the trigger and publish the story until the heart stops beating.

Same thing here: The reporter, like the rest of us, knew it might be coming but didn't know when. So he wrote the bones of this story so that he'd have something to publish quickly when it did happen. It's the responsible thing to do, to wait until the firing actually happened and then pushing out the story at exactly the moment people are looking for info.

DA isn't a bad human being, he's a bad head coach. I feel for him on a person level. I wouldn't curse him out either. But I celebrate him being removed from the job. He's made millions and will be fine. The team can now move into it's next era.

I don't feel bad for DA. He will still get paid and he will be able to find a D coordinator position in the NFL or college no problem. The league is rinse and repeat league anyway...

THANK YOU MICKEY! I know it’s hard chopping off a friends head, but it’s what was best for business. Good luck & all the best to DA. Sucks to see him wear out his welcome & flame out so epically bad like that. The dude tried, but sadly he’s a way better coordinator than HC.

Now…lets lock up a top 3-5 pick & bring in a new HC. Then lets trade back a bit & draft TMAC Mcmillen or Nic Scourton in 25, while stock piling assets for 26 where we can draft either Arch Manning (if he comes out early), Nico Imaleava, or Jackson Arnold. Either way, let the long road to recovery begin!

He very well may have known about the private meetings between Gayle and some players.
