WOOOOW.. I just said yesterday that I'm done with football until the Iron Bowl but something was like "check SR" and this is the first thing that I see......crazy.
I hope your Aub tigers beat Bama. Speaking of coaches walking the plank (Kalen) I still have hope for Freeze

I hope whoever the new head coach is that they seriously consider keeping Kubiak. He has shown what he can do with a full team of 1st stringers and with an offense held together with shoelaces. Kamara is having an awesome year. I would love to see what he could do with complete offense 95% of the time.

I don’t get being angry at Loomis’ comments. Granted, I don’t read every team’s press releases following the firing of a HC, but I expect it’s similar. No team is going to dump on the guy on the way out the door. There’s usually a few nice comments regarding their coaching and dedication, but then a few comments about making hard decisions and going in new directions. It’s generic stuff put together by marketing or PR people. Plus , DA has been here awhile and I imagine both Mrs Benson and Loomis are friends with him and his family. They probably wanted to make this as painless as possible for someone they like. It’s normal

For everyone who doubts Gayle Benson, they need to know that Dennis Allen’s firing was her decision after privately communicating with players. NOT a decision by Mickey Loomis.

Offering my non-trolling congratulations. I know a lot of you have been waiting for this day
Now.. let's see how quickly Loomis screws this up.

No more defensive head coaches, pls.

It also doesn't mean that Loomis would not have fired DA, in fact it is very likely the opposite.....

The only credit Loomis deserves is an all out attempt to put as much lipstick as that pig could stand.....in the end the Saints players and their fans have to suffer it.....

I'm not saying he deserves credit. I honestly think Loomis was going to fire him but he would have likely waited until the end of the season due to their long term relationship. That's an issue with hiring a coach you have been close to for many years. You think of them as people and a friend which makes it harder to fire them. It's an issue none of us have because we don't have personal relationships with any of them.

I actually think that long term it might have been better to fire him at the end of the season so we get better draft picks to build with. But I do also get that it was destroying the locker room so maybe you never come back from it.

At any rate, I'm just happy that the DA era is over. It was tearing this place apart as much as it was tearing the team apart.

And I'm good with Loomis going too. I don't think he's done as bad of a job as some think and I don't have the blood lust some have for firing him. And I think he has adjusted to do things better the last 2 or 3 years, but it's probably time to move Loomis up and get some new young blood into the GM spot. He probably deserves one more shot to hire a head coach after going 1 for 2, but he's not getting any younger and oftentimes GMs don't get that chance with a hire as bad as DA.

look, i get that many want a public excoriation - and even some wouldn't be appeased unless the was an actual flogging
but that's not how any of this works
what new HC wants to come work for a place that just dunked on the old HC?
Publicly yes
Internally no

I never wish an individual to fail or lose their job, but DA was given a position he was not qualified for, some coordinators can not be head coaches and DA is not head coaching material. Loomis trying to make him one is a failure of Loomis. I doubt any reasonably knowledgeable fan expected DA to succeed.

I would have bet on him making it until the end of the season.

Glad I was wrong.

Will have to agree to disagree.....At this point I don't think ML deserves anything but a demotion.....we will see what happens....

I wouldn't call wanted him demoted "blood lust", that seems a bit dramatic, I've got no problem with keeping him in the organization but just take him out of the major decision making process....
