Breaking! Saints fired Dennis Allen (3 Viewers)

He created this sheet show by hiring DA on Payton's recommendation.

If you really think about it, what was CSP's recommendation really worth? I bet he was LHAO when ML actually hired DA as the HC.....because he knew one day it was possible he would go against him.....poetic justice (especially if you believe the theory that there was a power struggle between CSP and Loomis at the end, which I think REBELMAX has hinted about in the past)....

Naw, I think CSP recommended him because DA was his friend...

I can't wait for Saints to play against Dennis Allen as a defensive coordinator and see his team collapse in the last 2 minutes instead of it always happening to us.
if DA has all of the young pieces and depth on D, he's proven to coach an extremely stingy D.

He's not really wrong, but today isn't the day to say it. Give it another 5-10 years when the team is celebrating the 20th or 25th anniversary of the Super Bowl win. He can come back with Payton and the rest of them.
He wasn't the DC for the Super Bowl run.

As DC, he oversaw some good regular season defenses, and without his defenses failing in the final moments of games the Saints would have seen more than that one Super Bowl.

look, i get that many want a public excoriation - and even some wouldn't be appeased unless the was an actual flogging
but that's not how any of this works
what new HC wants to come work for a place that just dunked on the old HC?
Only 32 HC jobs. Sean came here when there wasnt even a city.

You’re clearly a big fan of Mickey Loomis which is fair enough, but if we’re using decisions made almost 2 decades ago to defend him then I think that says it all.

I not a fan of GMs. But I do think he deserves credit for what he managed to put together for 15 years or so. It was the golden age of Saints football and I thank him for being a big part of that. And he didn't just do it two decades ago. He was running a championship contention franchise right up to the day his franchise QB retired. Many GMs have struggled to make that transition. Some eventually get it right and some don't. And I'm not sure 4 years and one failed coaching hire is enough time to know that.

But, it may be time to move on, and he certainly needs to either get a HC that is good at evaluating talent or move on from Ireland, but I don't think it's crazy to think that he can hire a great HC that can turn things around. He's done it once and maybe he can do it again despite his failure in hiring DA.

That being said, if it turns out that he resisted Gayle Benson firing DA then he should go now too.

I hope this just isn't "ripping the Band-Aid off" to prevent greater scrutiny of the entire organization. It would have taken a miracle for the Saints to finish this season much better than 6-11, which still would have led to DA having to go at the end of the year. This way, the team proves that they have now "done something" to fix things, and a mid-season firing puts the focus on DA as having being the root cause of the problem. Of course, I wouldn't have expected a midseason firing of Loomis or others, but if this is the only change before next year, I wouldn't be too optimistic. The one hope would be if they luck into hiring another dynamic, up-and-coming coach with a take-charge personality wanting to prove himself, and willing to aggressively insert himself into all aspects of running the team. If Loomis is allowed to stay and just hire another cog to fit into what they perceive to be a successful system, it is likely we will end up with mediocrity, at best. DA was a problem, but he was far from being the only problem.

He was our defensive backs coach for the Super Bowl run. Tracy Porter, Malcolm Jenkins and Jabari Greer's coach. DBs coach was always the best place for him and what he is best at. Even this season.
