Breaking! Saints fired Dennis Allen (2 Viewers)

For all you people celebrating, this team is no better without DA then it was with DA. So enjoy your moment while the Falcons destroy the Saints this Sunday.
Respectfully disagree. Addition by subtraction.

I'm under NO ILLUSIONS that this team will suddenly come together and play inspired ball, or possibly even squeak into the playoffs. I have every expectation that the team will no longer be "mailing in" their uninspired performances. Shots were fired over the bow and a message was sent. With a few exceptions, this team (maybe the entire franchise?) had gotten too comfortable and complacent. The message is that THIS REGIME IS OVER, and you're now playing for a spot on the next HC's roster. With DAs dismissal mid-season, it sends a message that NO ONE should be comfortable any more.

We're gonna see players' best efforts now. Maybe still won't be good enough, but those are the pieces that will reveal themselves over the last 1/2 of the season. The bleeding has stopped, and there is now HOPE for the future. Maybe not THIS season, and maybe not even next season; but SOON. I can live with that. I can root for a team who's giving it their ALL, regardless of W-L. That's an IMPROVEMENT, in my opinion.

Why would he stop to give a comment? It's understandable. Doesn't mean he's necessarily soft. I don't understand why people feel like they have to take parting shots.

The deed is done. It's over. Move on.
I believe it’s a matter of class. Let’s be honest here I bet every person here would be polite and say good luck to Allen’s face. If not see the first sentence in this paragraph.

Most points scored by Bryce since Dec 24, 2024. Just a terrible coaching job yesterday.
I keep seeing people bring this up

Yes it’s true but It was 23 points not 53

Might be a long road back to prominence, but it starts today.
Agreed. Full transparency on my part - I am not rooting for any losses this season. I just can’t. In fact, I want the Saints to win these next 8 freakin games. Yeah, I want a miracle. I know that it’s not happening and that the remaining two months of this season are going to continue to suck, so I have to keep the future in mind. Things will get better.

She inherited people who make football decisions and corrected what none of them were willing to today. IMO, today is her first day as the real owner of the Saints. Before she had been only a figurehead. She deserves credit for growing into an authority figure in practice, not just in organizational hierarchy.
Nicely said! Am I the only person wondering why the OWNER was reaching out to the players, talking to the players, and trading e-mails with the players? Isn't that the GM's job? The OWNER fired the HC, instead of the GM? Isn't that typically the GM's job? Wondering if there's something in the nuance of that reported story, or if I'm just reading into it?

Thank you Gayle.

I really didn’t think she’d do it in the middle of the season but seeing that she does give me more hope for this team’s future. Now it’s time for Loomis to go as well. I’m VERY VERY thankful for all he’s done. For all he ‘made it happen’ but it really is time.

This season is done but I’ve got hope for next season.

Loomis being the executor of Gayle Benson's will almost guarantees he doesn't get fired, not in the normal sense of getting fired anyway. More than likely he will move to a different executive role on the business side or he will be allowed to retire
He's not the executor of her will. Heck he's not even 2nd. That would only happen if both Dennis Lauscha and Greg Bensel passed before him. In other words, extremely unlikely. And it's not her will anyway. What you're referring to is Tom Benson's succession plan.

But that shouldn't even matter. They can move him to a non-football operations position and hire a real GM who will give us the leadership we need in the Saints front office.
