Breaking! Saints fired Dennis Allen (2 Viewers)

Mick is a finance guy, not a football guy, and he is the main reason we're in the mess we're in right now.

I think there is a nugget in this article that is more important than if Loomis was part of the decision of Allen being fired.

I quote from the article on what Loomis says:

"And I think (the idea of catching up on the salary cap) is overblown, as I've said in the past"

That comment is reason enough for me to wish he gets fired. It is time to take a different approach.

Just think about this, Kansas City has multiple championships, the salary of Mahomes, Kelsey and Chris Jones. They still have the flexibility to bring DeAndre Hopkins.
The Vikings, Ravens and Bills are playing competitive football even as they take hard decisions to keep their cap healthy.

Every year, we are using the credit card to extend veterans that don't play according to their cap hit, just to fit the cap.

Please leave!
He's locked in some type of time warp where he thinks Drew and Sean are still here. It's okay to max out during a championship run, not when you're rebuilding.

I smirked at this. Just for raw logic purposes, typically firing a coach mid-season is a form of giving up or almost throwing your hands up. I don't think he wanted to send that signal, and I think there's proof of that because he'd just said they likely wouldn't be sellers. He and Allen during the offseason reiterated a lot, they aren't interested in trading guys who can help them win. So firing Allen mid-season was a subtle admission they don't think they can still win, and sending that message to the players can go either way.

Loomis strikes me as being too naive and short-sighted. He's too focused on the "here and now" when he should also be focused on the future of this franchise. He's become way too complacent. Trading players and firing Dennis Allen isn't giving up. It's coming to the obvious realization that you are no longer a contender. You make these changes because you believe it will improve your franchise. Closed windows can still be opened. I'm so tired of hearing about this guy and his personal feelings. We need a GM that isn't afraid to make the tough business decisions to help the organization succeed, and I don't believe Loomis is that guy.

Tell me what you guys think of this. Dennis Allen is the guy that doesn't know when he's wrong. Mickey Loomis is the guy that does know when he's wrong but is pathological about not admitting it.

Did he say that?
lol the word should've been intensely A difference between being really bought in, or just following the rules. Players play beyond themselves for certain coaches. Imo, Da isnt one of those head coaches. However, as a DC, the players did seem to be bought in. We'll see soon enough if its true, depending upon how Rizzi has the team playing.

I don't know DC. In what way has he been maxing out since DA's been here..other than the 1st draft where we traded up for Olave and Penning because we thought we were still only two players away?

In the subsequent years Mickey has been handling the team, salar cap, and draft picks just like you're suggesting he should be doing.

TBh, i think you nailed it. DA only sees one way and he's driven to maintain course. (unfortnately the wrong course sometimes) Where ML sees all the courses and hopes others don't see them all, so when he is wrong, others wont notice.

lol, oh, I gotcha now. Actually I kinda like "intensilty". I liked it better when I thought you were making fun of him for using made up words, though.

He was already biased the day he hired Allen. So every thought and decision regarding Allen is/was irrational.

When you hire a close personal friend with a friendship of a decade, you are not going to enforce the same standard on your close personal friend as you would with any other coach.

I honestly think with Allen gone, Loomis decisions going forward should be sound.

In subsequent years, he kept the same salary cap philosophy. I don't want to sound cold, but we keep certain vets when other teams let them move on. Also, we sign guys like Car knowing in advance we are just going restructure. Outside of Drew, I'm not cool with paying a player after they've retired. Also, the word is we're picking up the bulk of Latt's salary this year.
