Breaking! Saints fired Dennis Allen (3 Viewers)

I think the important thing is for the players to show that they are worth taking the risk for. When a coach gets fired there are obviously big problems, but a great coach is going to want to feel like there is at least something to work with if he were to take the job. The next 8 games of effort by the players could help make this team more attractive because it isn't as attractive as some others that are likely to come open this offseason.
I understand your point. But we need about an 80-85% roster overhaul. That coach coming in will get to draft and keep who he wants. I want fresh players.

Agreed. There's no argument for continuity anymore, we need a fresh start. Next year needs to be about purging the roster and cleaning up the cap. Look to what Campbell did in Detroit -- they were terrible when he started, but he built a foundation that players could buy into.
Continuity?! Continuity?! Continue this mess?! Continuity?! (with apologies to Jim Mora)
Seriously, we need discontinuity. Far be it from me to figure out exactly how to accomplish it, but a LOT needs to change.

DA isn't a bad human being, he's a bad head coach. I feel for him on a person level. I wouldn't curse him out either. But I celebrate him being removed from the job. He's made millions and will be fine. The team can now move into it's next era.

Yep. That’s kind of what prompted me to make that post. I do feel bad for the dude from a personal level…I mean, this is it for him as a HC. His pinnacle life dream is pretty much over. He’ll be relegated to DC/DB coach lifer status now.

He gave us his best, but unfortunately that job isn’t for everyone; he just learned and probably deep down knew it for quite some time now that he just doesn’t have what it takes.

It had to happen and I'm glad it did for the sake of the organization. Having said that, I find it hard to celebrate a man's failure. I hope he lands at a place where he can do well, it just wasn't going to be here.
I wouldn't call it celebrating a man's failure. But sometimes you have to hope for the worst in order for it to rear it's ugly head. This was one of those times.

That's really surprising. I really didn't think they'd do that during the season. He'll land somewhere as a defensive coordinator, but he's probably done with chances at head coach. I hate that we lose our DC...not that the defense was playing all that well, but, they're better than the offense.

At this point, I’d like to see the team move on entirely from Payton coaching holdovers and start fresh with somebody who can look at every aspect of the team in a new way. Scheme, personnel, how they practice, game planning and prep, conditioning, all of it.
10000%. And that includes Loomis and Ireland, imo.

I don’t mind the aggressive cap strategy. But the personnel decisions have been awful and it’s why we have zero depth.

Campbell also comes from Payton's coaching tree.

We can't have that. The roster isn't set up that way. The cap management specifically prevents it. We won't be able to do much with the top of the roster, but could shuffle the cheaper contracts around at the bottom of the roster with newly drafted players.
