Loomis could hold a presser and say we are going to rebuild and hang with us, but there would be some fans be like, fire the bum we didn't make the playoffs. Can't please everyone.

He basically did that last year, not in those exact words. He made it clear that we were turning down the aggression meter to reset things back to a certain mean level cap-wise. People still got mad and used our less aggressive off-season against him.

Not sure how any Saints fan can't be excited about this. While Moore has a ton of work to do, it's hard to not compare this to the Payton hire back in 06. Clearly Moore does not have a QB of the caliber of Brees on the roster and hopefully finding long term future at QB is a top priority. Either way I am super excited for the offseason. Going to be fun to see that staff and roster being built out over the next few months.
And.... clearly Carr does did not have the Coach of the caliber of SP!

[Fingers crossed that Moore can come close to what SP offered!]

Who gets three years to compete? Two years to demonstrate growth at most. Fans will not tolerate two consecutive losing seasons.
It depends. We need to get the cap right and we're going to lose A LOT of veteran talent to old age over the next two seasons. If the team looks competent and like it's going in the right direction yet losing close games I think fans will see that we're building something good that need time to come together. That is a huge difference what we just watched happen under DA, which was going from being a perennial threat to win it all to declining into one of the worst teams in the league. If the direction is pointing up, patience will come with it.

I estimate about 50 mil in cap space and about 20 roster spots to fill in 2026. Before we sign anyone this offseason anyway. So plenty of room to maneuver and a lot of work to do.

It's going to be interesting to see how they operate in free agency this year. Some of it will be dependent on what they decide to do with Carr, but I wonder if they plan to be active, will they continue the soft rebuild, or will they do the full rebuild this year? I hope it's either the soft rebuild or the full rebuild so Moore can have more freedom to make moves in 2026.

Some of it also may depend on if they want to give extensions to Olave, Shaheed, Penning, Chase Young, and Juwan Johnson.

Bingo. So much of this game is what team you’re on, what system you’re in, and who is coaching it.

Something tells me Carr’s career would have been much different if he was not stuck in the coach/QB graveyard that is the Raiders.

I will be very surprised if we don’t do everything in our power to make ourselves flexible to make roster moves this off-season. You absolutely have to let your new head coach disassemble and reassemble IMO.

If that includes hanging onto a QB you may not necessarily want for an extra year, I think you should do it. Draft his replacement so that you have someone waiting in the wings, but in the meantime, if you need to restructure him to free up cap space for Moore to get his guys in, you do it. JMO.

I think it will be modest. Mainly Moore bringing in his guys and plugging holes with value FAs. Maybe a big move if a FA is available and Moore sees him as a key to the offense in the future.

The next month will be far more interesting than the last month was. We have exclusive negotiating rights with all of those players until March 12th. Young may decide to test free agency which will sting from a cap perspective. Juwan would be smart to take a team friendly deal with some performance incentives. The rest, and I would add Alontae Taylor to your list, are under contract and the extensions would give them some long term assurances while also giving us some cap relief. That great thing about all of them is that they are younger players.

Carr will be the ultimate indicator of where the team is going in 2025. The only real options I see are restructure and June 1 cut. If we see some of the older guys get restructured first, my bet will be on a June 1 cut.
