Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (14 Viewers)

I guess we aren’t trying to get a new staff before the senior bowl. If we go with the first time HC in offensive coordinator KM, he would need to put together a complete offensive, defensive and special teams staff. Thats alot to do for a first timer, without a ton of contacts, and pressed for time because he can’t put out any effort now, as he’s still competing. Just hire the guy that knows what to do and has led men. Compared to possibly a brilliant young man, but doesn’t look like he can lead men. He looks like the outdoor boys dad. :)

Just thought of this, what are the odds that Aaron Glenn and Joe Brady talked to Sean Payton about the Saints job? I’d like to have been a fly on the wall. Although I can pretty much assume what was said.

It’ll be telling if MM doesn’t interview by the end of the week. If he doesn’t Moore probably has it, unless loomis throws a rizzi curveball on Friday.

I know he chose not to interview while they were still in the playoffs and couldn't once they were in the NFCCG. So I think yesterday was the first day he could interview again. But I haven't heard anything. I did just read that the Washington GM said he didn't know about Kingsbury immediate future but that he did say "I'm sure his time is coming soon".
He's been radio silent since they were knocked out of the playoffs, so he's either still weighing his options or quietly told the Saints he's not interviewing. He's honestly my favorite of who's left. He feels like the least conservative option, and I feel like we need to take a big swing. He could flame out spectacularly, but he's also been great at building systems around talented young QBs. I'd love to see what he could do with Rattler with a couple of years of development. I don't hate Moore or McCarthy either, but if we're digging through the bargain bin we might as well take the biggest risk/reward candidate IMO.

I suspect we won't get an announcement until after the Superbowl regardless of who gets the gig. Rizzi, McCarthy or Moore. But I will say this. Its highly suspicious that the Saints were gung ho on interviewing Moore that they flew to Philly asap. Meanwhile, Kingsbury isn't just available to interview, he is allowed to officially sign as head coach as of yesterday. And yet we haven't heard anything at all. And McCarthy is being dragged on and still hasn't interviewed and he was able to sign on the day after his contract expired with Dallas.

This leaves me to suspect that Rizzi and Moore are the two most likely candidates.

Rizzi left a lot to be desired as interim-head coach. I honestly would probably resign myself to the idea that if they even make .500 they will be doing well. More so, it will feel like Loomis just wants continuation and he's in la la land about the state of the franchise from a competitive standpoint.

Moore would be a complete unknown, but it at least signals to me that Loomis recognizes that a continuation is the opposite of what we need.

Do you remember Sean's demeanor when he was with NYG and Dallas prior to us hiring him?

I do...I had always viewed him as a "fake coach."

Granted I was a lot younger then, but he always just looked like a whiney annoyance on the sideline with those old Giants teams, like a slightly more talkative Pete Carmichael or something...Little did I know. :ROFLMAO:

I remember referring to him as "Pissy McGee" and thought of him as a wannabe Chuckee. I was still excited to get him as head coach though because I thought he could be better than Haslett and it meant Ventura and that defense was finally going to exit my life. I still shake my head and giggle when I think about Fred Thomas best defenses came when he tripped the receiver nonchalantly.

You do not make a head coaching decision based on being at the Senior Bowl.

Is Mike McCarthy a firey, man's man coach, and I just missed it?

I don't hate it. My biggest concern is I'm not so sure Nuss is that guy. But maybe he's a bit of a late bloomer like Daniels and Burrow were. Time will tell.

I think there will be a pretty solid group of QBs coming out in the 2026 draft, so we'll have options, hopefully.

Yep. Nuss is going to need to do a lot of blooming and growing before he is that guy. He had some very good games last year but for much of the year he bordered on awful. He has talent, but he has a lot of work to do before he'd be worthy of a high first round pick.

LMAO @ “Pissy McGee”

Perfect description. Couldn’t stand seeing that dude back in the day. 🤣

You're off. Nuss is him. He will be better. LSU had two very big disappointments most of the year. That is the run game and the wide receiving corps last year. It was not what the expectation was. The OL got off to a bad start too, improved over season. Nuss played under way less than ideal conditions and you immediately saw the improvements when Hilton stepped back on the field.

I think he waits to next year he will have a few good possible jobs. Colts, Bengals, Miami, Giants, and wildcards Bills/Chiefs. The last 2 for different reasons.

What makes you think he has no contacts and he has been in the NFL Coaching ranks for almost or a little over a decade?

Aaron Glenn is a first time head coach and he is putting his staff together just fine, you do not need to replace everyone on your staff.

I'm hopeful on Nuss. It's important to note that the best QB's always started high with confidence and their plays and success didn't justify the amount of confidence they have. Burrow, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, you name it, all of them had a much higher degree of confidence then their play warranted, and their skill and knowledge eventually caught up.

This is where Nuss is. His confidence is incredibly high but his play hasn't warranted it yet. He has made some really good flashes, such as several times we watched him throw a receiver open which is nothing short of an NFL QB style throw. But his confidence level causes him also to believe he can make a play and it doesn't work out yet which is where those bad plays come from. An offseason worth of studying and practicing could potentially cause things to click for him. Let's not forget, the potential candidate that will likely come to the Saints If Moore is hired, has been an NFL QB coach for years is his father. So we'll likely see some growth next season.
