Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (2 Viewers)

Seems like it would be pretty hard to give your best interview when you are trying to prepare for a Superbowl. Moore is trying to figure out how to outgun Patrick Mahommes and Loomis is asking him to design plays for Mason Tipton. Good luck Kellen!

You're off. Nuss is him. He will be better. LSU had two very big disappointments most of the year. That is the run game and the wide receiving corps last year. It was not what the expectation was. The OL got off to a bad start too, improved over season. Nuss played under way less than ideal conditions and you immediately saw the improvements when Hilton stepped back on the field.

I am not off. He was down right terrible for long stretches of last year. He had talent to use he just wasn't very accurate and tried to force the ball into spaces he should not have far too often. I was told at the start of last season that he would be a high first round pick in this draft and that clearly isn't the case or he would have come out in this very weak QB class. Nuss has a long way to go before he is worthy of a 2nd round pick much less a first round pick.

He had a good bowl game. Hopefully he can build off of that.

Luckily I guess Moore feels different about it.

Sorry. All wrong. Not important enough to argue this on this thread.

Ah yes, because we are the first team EVER to try to hire a Super Bowl participant’s coordinator during their game prep period.

What an idiot that Loomis is for even attempting this, amirite???

Yep. Nuss is going to need to do a lot of blooming and growing before he is that guy. He had some very good games last year but for much of the year he bordered on awful. He has talent, but he has a lot of work to do before he'd be worthy of a high first round pick.

Maybe I'm wrong but I really don't think Nuss's ceiling will ever be close to Burrow's or JD's......

I think he could still be a potential starter in the NFL but I don't see him ever being great.....He doesn't have the pocket presence, athleticism, field vision or accuracy of his predecessors, he does have a strong arm but that is way down my list of what makes a QB potentially great....

I don't hate it. My biggest concern is I'm not so sure Nuss is that guy. But maybe he's a bit of a late bloomer like Daniels and Burrow were. Time will tell.

I think there will be a pretty solid group of QBs coming out in the 2026 draft, so we'll have options, hopefully.

I would say his development arc is closer to Burrow's than Daniels. Daniels had a ton of experience before transferring to LSU. His first season wasn't that great, but skyrocketed his second season.

Burrow didn't play much until he transferred and showed flashes in 2018 with the TAMU and the Bowl Game against UCF as his coming out party.

Nuss waited his chance, Nuss played sparingly his first two seasons and had a good bowl game against Wisconsin.

He had a good season stats wise, but some ups and downs on decision making in his first season as QB1, but his best football was at the end of the season, very similar to Burrow as his best football was the TAMU and UCF games.

Now Nuss is returning as a 5th Year Senior, a full season under his belt and tons of talent. It is lining up for a season to solidify himself as one of if not the top QB in the 2026 draft.

Manning should play at least 2 seasons before coming out, so 2027 draft for him.

What makes you think he has no contacts and he has been in the NFL Coaching ranks for almost or a little over a decade?

Aaron Glenn is a first time head coach and he is putting his staff together just fine, you do not need to replace everyone on your staff.
I just don’t have that feeling like he can be a leader of the defense when needed. I’m sure he can lead the offense just fine. But he doesn’t have that hardness that Sean learned from Bill. The same hardness that Aaron Glenn learned from Bill.

He seems like a career OC. I could be wrong, though. I was wanting Martz when Sean was hired. Maybe that’s Mickeys rule of thumb, the more your team is in disarray, the more you hire a first timer to build it back up. ..,,I dunno. HIRE SOMEBODY! :)

Let's not forget that Doug Nussmeier is his dad, and has been Kellen Moore's QB coach for years now and has a full offseason to work with Garret. It would practicaly be a big disappointment if Nuss doesn't step onto that field in game 1 and not display growth.

As for Arch, both Eli and Peyton are telling him to stay in college as long as possible and so far he's taken their advice every time.

I don't think he's Burrow or Daniels level good either. And I agree that he could be an solid NFL QB if he works on his accuracy and learns to not throw into bad situations. I also think he holds onto the ball too long far too often and lacks pocket awareness.

This is essentially the exact description people like Sean Payton & Mickey Loomis gave Dennis Allen when he was hired.

Coordinating an offense/defense and being a Head Coach are two different jobs.

I want to know if Kellen Moore has the courage to hold every player, coach, scout, and FO person accountable. And does he have the vision and kind of attention to detail to oversee the entire organization? Not just draw up cute plays.

I am not saying Kellen Moore is not that guy. Just that Sirianni's comments don't hold much weight for me.

They have two weeks until the game. Surely he can take one day to interview before moving on to the Chiefs.

How does one prove they can do this before being tasked to do it?

There’s no Rock of Sisyphus to roll here. Either he gets the job done or he doesn’t. But the Saints aren’t some unique outlier prone to one result or the other by virtue of existing.

They’ll hire a guy and we’ll see how adept he is at the job. This expectation of “readymade, just add New Orleans humidity” borders on absurd.

Obviously, he'll need the opportunity to prove it. But there's gotta be more to the process than just handing someone the keys and hoping for the best because, after all, he has character, and he knows how to call offensive plays.

Kellen should have clear answers to questions like, "Describe your ideal prototype for the nickel CB position? (or pick any defensive position, since Moore is an offensive coach)" "Explain the training regimen you plan to implement. How is it different from what we have, and what makes yours better?" "Describe a recent process in which you put together a plan for development/growth for a particular player under your purview?" etc.

I'm not saying these kinds of questions aren't being asked. Obviously, I'll never know. But these kinds of conversations could give some insight into whether he thinks like a playcaller or thinks like a Head Coach.
