Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (4 Viewers)

That's incorrect--about McCarthy hiring him. Moore went straight from the field, to QB coach in 2018 and promo'd to OC and play caller in 2019 (while McCarthy was sitting out)...In his first season as offensive coordinator in 2019, Moore guided the Cowboys to the NFL's top-ranked offensive attack (431.5 ypg) while ranking second in passing offense (296.9 ypg) and fifth in rushing offense (134.6 ypg). Prescott finished second in the NFL with a career-high 4,902 passing yards (second-most in franchise history) and fourth with a career-high 30 passing touchdowns. The unit also featured running back Ezekiel Elliott, who logged the second-most scrimmage yards (1,777) and fourth-most rushing yards (1,357) in the NFL, and Cooper, whose breakout campaign included career highs in receiving yards (1,189) and receiving touchdowns (eight).

Big Mike was hired after that and Jerry basically wasn't about to just let Moore walk. Moore runs the ball plenty when he has the personnel--see Saquon this year or several other examples over the years in Dallas. He's a very good candidate imo, checks plenty of boxes--even if Mick might not know him that well...
25/hr guaranteed 🤣

I think Moore ends up in Dallas. Jones loves him. He's the type of coach Jones can push around too. Can't do that with someone like Belichick. Jones also loves Jason Witten, longtime now retired Cowboys TE. Don't be surprised if he ends up with a big job on Moore's staff. All of the Deion talk is just Jerry stirring shirt to keep the Cowboys at the forefront of discussions.

The rational choice is to stop living in that house.
Trust me, I only come here because this is my hometown team. I don't expect the Saints to win anything significant anytime soon. This ship has been sinking since Sean left, and only people in denial can't comprehend that.

Why? He has had a mediocre year at Philly. Part of SD horrid disaster the year before. Fired from Dallas before that. I'm confused.

Yep. I like Moore and he’s on my short list, but I don’t think Jerry lets him out the building without signing a deal once it reaches that point.

And you’re right; he’s the exact type of candidate Jerry would want. A newbie type that he can push around.

I don’t think Moore is a “Beta” so to speak, but in that building, he would be one to Jerry.

We’re down to three likeliest candidates left and Moore is reported to be getting a second interview in person. The other two options left seems to be Rizzi and McCarthy.

Kellen Moore
Darren Rizzi
Mike McCarthy

Maybe something happens with Kliff Kingsbury after Sunday. But right now it seems like it’s one of these guys unless Kaftka or Weaver impressed.

Kellen Moore might appeal to the Saints brass because he’s NOT TOXIC.

He’s a kind, trustworthy person…huge on personal accountability, demonstrates it…he’s born bred to breathe football…winningest QB in FBS HISTORY. Lead the NFLs top ranked offense his first season as an OC. Has 6 seasons of OC experience. Listen to his interview after his last Cowboys game, then listen to Mike McCarthy. Tell me which sounds like a leader to you?

I think it should be between Moore and Rizzi myself.

I’d take towlie from south park before rizzi. That’s how bad this organization needs to be purged of Payton leftovers and yes men.

You mean Jayden Daniels leads the top rated offense. It’s 90% JD and Kingsbury knows that himself.

Rizzi? Good lord smh

Cool. You don’t like Kingsbury because he’s Alien 2.0? You don’t like Rizzi because he represents status quo? Fine. But McCarthy has his warts and it doesn’t take a lot of effort to see them. At this point, I’m pulling for Kellen Moore

Apparently, the Saints want to hear from Kellen Moore before they speak to McCarthy. Wonder why that is?

I'm with you on Moore. Plus he's had great offenses his whole career minus 2 years. 2020 when he had Dalton for a good chunk and 2023 when the Chargers had no running backs. No RB's in his ball control style offense is a recipe for disaster.

He has more skins on the wall than Brady and even though I was biased towards Brady, Moore was probably the better option of the two all along.

Because they know McCarthy already. And he has his skins on the wall, and they know everything he brings. If you interview McCarthy, you hire McCarthy. Interview everyone else first and see if anyone knocks your socks off. If not, hire MM.
