I think Rob Ryan will come in and get rid of the ones he cannot use in his scheme right away. Good news, I think Harper can stay now and do well as SS in Ryan's scheme. However, I'm thinking (I know people will not like it) MJ moves over to CB. Reason? Well, as we know, pass-rushing OLB's do not come cheap. An elite pass-rushing OLB would probably run around 8-10 mil. We're strained cap-wise, everyone knows that. So I expect Ryan to go after a FS in free agency. Goldson or Ed Reed, even as much as they would cost (6-7 mil or so), are top of their position in the field and come a few mil less per year than making the OLB free agency move and drafting a FS. I think Mingo will be drafted, to me he has the best potential and is the best option for us (even IF JJ is on the board). I think ML will work out a fair contract with Bushrod, using the tag on him is dumb because he's not top 5 at his position, nor does he deserve that kind of money. ML will work out a contract that will fit for this position. I think we will ultimately draft a LT in the 4th or 5th to see if we can strike gold and get some depth there.

MJ will compete for the starting FS job against IAQ. If he loses out, he's gone next year and we draft a franchise safety.

Next moves? Let's see

Look to fill the remaining Coaching vacancies, O-line, and Secondary Coach.

Begin the Process of building up Ryan's Scheme, self evaluating our Roster. Which current hold over players can contribute next year, which ones need to be let go.

Preparing for Free Agency, we are in a Cap bind. So we have to figure out what cuts need to be made, who can restructure. Obviously everyone can't restructure, as that will put us in a bigger mess in future years so we're just going to have to eat some Hits, and we lose some guys. I don't foresee this being a Big time Free Agent year for us, but who knows maybe Loomis can work some magic and land someone unexpected? If not no biggie we might actually get Compensatory picks next off-season.

Combine/Draft Scouting

So on so forth..

Harp and IAQ should be the starters, we need to draft a corner high now, he will have them playing man again which is their strength, but even so, I think M. Wilson and Cam Jordan are Ideal for Rob Ryans scheme The Rex Ryan Hybrid

but we probably need to take best player avail. in first between DT, DE, OLB and CB

would like to grab a WR in this draft because they are deep and we can get good value

we need some personnel , you don't get the worst defense in the history of the nfl without bad players and coach, even with GW who I thought was one of the better DC in the nfl, our talent was poor, but lack of two 2nd round picks and trading up to get 2 1sts didn't help us build talent

Jenkins and harpers jobs are safe

IAQ is a valuable reserve and he makes us very versatile in the secondary....but Harper and Jenkins are just better

Harp's not as bad as many think he is, but he's not as good as you think he is either. Bottom line is, he's too expensive for an in-the-box safety that struggles in coverage and lacks ball skills.

I always get confused with this stuff. Now I hear we need a FSafety, but I thought Jenkins was an up and coming star. Harper, I don't see the problem?

Will Smith is a good player, but the productivity is starting to slide? I don't know.

We have Greer at CB and have drafted Robinson and Patrick fairly high.

IAQ. What about White?

A LB? OK with me, I guess.

Confusing. Heck we'll probably take an OLman.

So...what happens at DL coach and LB coach? Does Ryan get to make changes there?
Hopefully. I love Vitt's presence on the staff but he has yet to draft and coach up a franchise linebacker. The ones we do get leave for another team where they excel or get stuck behind the free agents we get on an almost yearly basis. The defensive line has never been consistently dominant under Bill Johnson's watch. We need someone that can light a fire under them to at least live up to their potential.

If Jenkins is still the starting fs, don't expect much improvement in pass defense. Harper cannot cover so we need a ball hawking centerfielder at fs which Jenkins is definitely not. Jenkins should be moved back to cb where he was solid and not a liability.

If they can't do anything right, why do they play?
