Saints sign Safety Justin Reid to a 3-year, $31.5 million deal (124 Viewers)

This contract stands out as cheap compared to the Safeties rated above (and below) him on the NFL.com Free Agent list. Stands out a lot.

(15) Holland - $15m pa
(20) Moehrig - $17m pa
(24) Reid - $10.5m pa
(40) Hufanga - $15m pa
(54) Bynum - $15m pa

Great for us but his agent may deserve a kick up the jacksy
The agent ultimately answers to the client. This looks like the first ever possible sighting of that ever elusive "player taking a home team discount."

It's either that or the agent, Reid and the Saints know something everyone else doesn't know.

This is an excellent pick-up. We needed a safety. Honey Badger maybe has 2 years left.
And if we go to a 3-4 defense we will definitely need two solid safeties.

Greatness. Landed a guy from a winning team. Got him at his AAV, not above. Lifted spirits.

So, thank you to the restructuring players for making this happen, especially Derek. Mickey was very cool to sweeten up all of your restructured deals, except Honey Badger, who went above and beyond, donating money back to the team.
Ok , what have you done with texasjefe?? You got him tied up in the basement?? Glad to agree with you for this once in a blue moon

There's a higher chance to rebuild through the draft than whatever the heck we are doing. 20 years of losing too many games we get into the playoffs and winning too many games to get an elite prospect doesn't sound much better.
Just like most people can walk and chew bubble gum at the same time, a team can build through the draft and free agency at the same time.

When did so many people get so obsessed with all-or-nothing and black-and-white thinking?

I absolutely LOVE IT!!! In 2018, Justin Reid was one of my draft darlings. I remember mentioning him in almost every single draft thread that year. Wish i could go back & look it up. But man, this an AWESOME get for us. Reid is almost exactly who i thought he was going to be coming into the league.

He never really developed into a true hawk, like i thought, but the dude is as complete as it gets at the position. Now, if we could somehow land Azeez OjularI &/or Asante Samuel, that would be an excellent way to kick off Moore’s freshman HC campaign.

I know who they are. They are the ones that complain about everything no matter what. You could give them the best player in the league and they would find something to complain about. I learned a long time ago to stay away from these people. Yes, I know exactly who they are.
I sometimes wonder if the people like that have anything in their lives they are happy or positive about.

Yeah all we need is to hit on a HOF QB and... build my defense off a horrible one sided trade... hmmmm wonder who they made that trade with?

The point is that they got that HoF QB while being average for years and not tanking. So, it is possible to get elite players, even elite QBs without tanking and they aren't the only team to have done it.

Philly did all those things without taking. And they did a lot more than trades with the Saints to build that team. They are great at scouting college and other NFL players. And they did it all without every tanking and remaining mediocre in between.

And there are other teams that have done the same. Green Bay has never tanked. At least not since before Favre was their QB.

Hell, the Patriots Dynasty was built without ever tanking and it followed years of being an average team.

Even Baltimore has never tanked and yet they have a franchise QB and would probably have rings if not for playing in the conference with the Bills and Chiefs.
